Default M/C while on Lovenox or Heparin?

Just wondering if anyone out there has had a m/c while taking Lovenox or Heparin.

After two m/c's, these blood thinners are being hailed as the answer for those of us with repeat loss. I know many cysters have had tremendous success after losses with these drugs and that is incredibly encouraging. When I hopefully get pregnant again, I pray these drugs will be the answer for me, but the fear of another m/c is still there.

I'm guessing it's good news that no one is posting here.

Carol - how are you doing??

Shanna - hope you get a sticky BFP soon!

Hi ladies I was on lovenox on my 7th pregnancy / 6th loss, it was Twins and they both stopped developing at 6 weeks. So the lovenox did not prevent my last miscarriage ...BUT I did speak to the doctor & they put me on predsnisone ( a steriod) and heparin 2x a day which there is supposed to be a difference in the molecular weight

I just found out yesterday I am pregnant again so I am hoping this will make a difference this time ..

Hope this helped

I'm not sure exactly how Lovenox or Heparin would benefit a pregnancy. Both drugs have blood-thinning properties, but I do not see the correlation between that and helping women with previous miscarriages retaining a pregnancy. I would venture to say that it would only be helpful if your miscarriages were related to a clotting problem. I would be concerned being pregnant and on a blood thinner. Your body is already susceptible and vulnerable while pregnant, and I would not want to chance any complications. I would say as long as you are in good communication with your doctor, then it never hurts to try. What may work for you won't work for someone else, and vice versa. Good luck!

SherLynn-I remember you from my last pregnancy, I think we were both pregnant and both miscarried around the same time. Congrats on getting pregnant again, I recently got another BFP as well. Since my last m/c I switched docs and discovered I'm compound hetero MTHFR and protien S deficient so I am on heparin injections and foltx this time, I'm praying it makes all the difference. I've got everything crossed for you that the prednisone and increased lovenox makes all the difference for you.

SherLynn - Congratulations on your BFP! I also remember you from the other threads. I'm sorry about the loss of your twins. I have heard some people are on steroids as well. What exactly are the steroids supposed to do?

Stacy - are you injecting the heparin once or twice a day?

Melissa-I'm injecting the heparin twice a day. Heparin always has to be injected twice a day because it only stays in the body for 12 hours. And I'm so paranoid, I've been making sure I do each injection EXACTLY 12 hours apart. From what I understand, lovenox stays in the body for 24 hours so a lot of women on lovenox only need to inject once a day.

Stacy - Hi .. actually I am also on Heprin 2x a day Congrats on your BFP too.. Hopefully this is the one for both of us.. Crossing everything!!

Melissa - Predsnisone is prescribed to combat antiAmmune diseases..hope that helps both Heparin & predsnisone are scary b.c they are class C drugs ..

pandoura - Heparin/Lovenox/baby asprin are often prescribed for re-accuring miscarriages even in there is no proven clotting disorder since there are so many unexplained caused for miscarriages and since 5 out of 6 my losses were unexplained & the babies just stopped growing there is a good indication that the babies are not getting the nurishment they need from me or something is attacking them ..

Melissa-As you already know, I have to add myself to the unfortunate list of people who have miscarried on heparin. Although I still suspect I have autoimmunities going on in addition to the blood clotting issues. Hopefully the reproductive immunologist I'm going to see can shed some light.

Prior to this pregnancy, I had 3 m/c. I had the testing done to see why and everything was normal. So my doc 'preventatively' put me on Lovenox this time and I am now pg and 24 days away from giving birth.

Don't know if it was the lovenox or if it was the added progesterone but something worked for us this time. I still feared for the longest time something going wrong but they have been watching me very closely.

Good Luck to you!
