Mailed our application for Chinese adoption today!
Hi ladies!
I've been lurking for a few months. Reading and researching, mostly trying to figure out what feels "right."
A week ago today, DH and I decided to pursue adoption from China. We're going with Children's Hope International. And we are sooooo excited!!!
After a lot of prayer and soul searching, we decided that the right thing for us was to work on multiple avenues to build our family at the same time. If I am able to conceive and carry a child to term, I'm not sure that emotionally I can do it more than once. And ideally, we would like to have more than one child. So, since we know we are probably going to pursue options outside of a bio child, why not do it now? I'm still having my myomectomy next week, on the 30th.
You all have inspired me with your stories and your beautiful families. I hope you don't mind if I bug you over the next few months as we get our dossier together. This process can be so overwhelming!
You are a girl after my own heart and please update us often since we are adopting from China as soon as I turn 30 ! I can't wait to follow your journey to your daughter !
Congrats again !
Amy

You don't know how happy this makes me! I've got tears running from your news. I'm so thrilled for you and for the child you will be bringing into your family.
We are home with our little one for just nearly 6 weeks now (seems like just yesterday!!) and everything is still quite fresh in my memory. If you have any questions please do feel free to get in touch with me. You are in for the trip and experience of your life!!
YIPPEEEEE!!!!!

Yippeeee! What great news Paula! I had it marked in my dayplanner to send you a pm this week before your myomectomy and I was going to try to do it today before multiple meetings at work prevented me from doing so. I am so excited that you will be pursuing adoption -- that is awesome news.
Do you feel ready for the surgery next week? I will pm you tomorrow -- promise!
Janie

Janie -- most of the time I feel ready for my surgery. Every now and then I have a panicked thought like "what if I lose my uterus?" or "what if I don't wake up?" Then I shake away those thoughts. We moved into a house last October that only has bedrooms and showers upstairs. So, since my mom was planning to install one of those stairlifts when she moves in in June, she put it in last week. I also have a mini fridge in my room and I've washed every article of clothing I can find. I have to do all the pre-op stuff this week. I mostly just want it to be over. My OB is doing the surgery and I'll see her this week. I chatted with my RE last week and I'm waiting on a call from my peri with the results of some blood work. I think all my bases are covered. We've also felt a great sense of peace since we made our decision about adoption.
Lisa -- I've been following your story in particular over the last couple of months. Emily is absolutely beautiful! Your story gives me hope.
DNA - I will have lots of time to post in the near future -- get to be home for six weeks after my surgery! I will fill you all in on every little step -- and I'm sure ask for help along the way.
Heidi -- my dear friend. I've been thinking about you too. Are you doing well? Feeling good? We're just glad to be moving FORWARD.
I got another package from Children's Hope in the mail today. It had a list of all sorts of things that need to be in the dossier. This is going to be like a part-time job! How long does it take to get all these documents together?
I am SOOOOOOOOOOO thrilled to have you in our forum now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're adopting from Panama, but our dossier is 99% done and it's taken us less than 2 months. I woulda had it done in 2 weeks or so, but you do spend time waiting to get forms sent back to you, and I took a week or two off when we hit an emotional snag when we had to decide to go for one child now instead of two that we'd had our hearts set on.
Congratulations!!!! And good luckwith your surgery.
