HI. I love mineral makeup. Wont ever go back to liquid, and I had a serious long-term relationship with liquid for a long time before I tried minerals! I bought Sheercover, and loved it but the color wasnt quite right. So I am now using products from Mineral Basics. I love the products, and the prices are better, plus no club to join & no automatic shipments. Chandi, the owner, is great to answer any questions and is very prompt with her response and with shipping. I highly recommend these products. My face is definitely clearer, and the makeup covers great. it even stays on through my 1 hours body combat aerobics class. that is serious staying power b/c i sweat buckets in that class. HTH

I happen to agree here. I also use Mary Kay. These work real well. To bad I can't afford to keep it up. It can be a little expensive. They have an excellent package. You buy make-ups (included are: foundation, concealer, eye liner pencil {more like a marker type eye-liner with a fine tip}, Lip liner, lip stick, eye shadow {3 shades of YOUR complete choice, you sit and choose each individual shade}), lotions, facial cream, Facial mask, lip mask, eye mask, hand lotion, hand treatment (excellent for DRY hands, trust me my hands are BAD!) and I believe more but at LEAST all this for $300. Its a good deal considering all you get and how long it lasts.

Sorry, I'm not trying to sell Mary Kay, I'm not even a dealer I just want to pass along how well this works.

I first heard about Bare Escentuals on this very thread and was intrigued, and so I went to the website and paid $60 for the starter kit. When I first opened it, I was so disappointed. No way those two tiny little containers were going to cover my redness and discoloration for two months. I was sure I'd be returning it the next day. BUT, I am happy to say that I was totally wrong.

I started following the instructional dvd (I've never seen the demo on the infomercial,) and when I first brushed that stuff over my chin, it was like I'd buffed out the red in PhotoShop! I got SO excited, I ran to show DF how amazing it was. (He wasn't nearly as impressed.) By the time I finished following the demo, for the first time in my life I looked like I had flawless, radiant skin! Foundation has never matched my skin tone before, but this looked perfect, and I could barely feel it on my face. The "warmth" is awesome and looks so natural. And a little goes a LOOOONG way. I've had it for nearly two months and I'm not even finished with one jar. TOTALLY worth every penny.

I'm trying to sell my mom on the stuff right now. (Not literally "sell." I don't sell it.) She and I both have rosacea and have searched for years to find good make-up. I've sent her pictures of face close-ups and she's really impressed.

I would strongly recommend it to anyone. But I second the previous suggestion to go one shade lighter than you think you need.

I'm another Bare Escentuals girl and I totally love it!! I would never, ever use any other makeup again. My skin gets less breakouts now, and it covers so well, yet doesn't feel like I'm wearing makeup.

I'm another one with oily skin, and I found that if I put a layer of mineral veil down under my foundation then I don't oil up as much or as fast. Then if I do get oiliness, I use either bloating paper to remove the excess oil or dust some more mineral veil on to soak it up. The best thing about BE is that you can keep putting on layers of foundation or mineral veil all day long and it will never look caked on. I love it!!

Smile Gotta try this stuff...it really works!

Hi cycters,
This is my first reply so forgive me if any mistakes!!! I was dx'd with pcos almost 2wks. ago but have been suffering with acne for a long time . I have tried everything!!!!! Including several derms. On June 4th, I was MOH for my best's friend wedding. She hired a makeup artist from Laura Mercier makeup brand. I had planned on doing my own makeup b/c I am one of those people who are convinced no one can do my makeup better than me and feel they never use enough!!! Well, this wonderful artist somehow convinced me that she has the best makeup out there and that it's developer Laura Mercier herself suffers from acne. (not sure that is true but I bought it at the time). Well I hate to admit it but she was right! I looked unbelievable and have never received so many compliments on my skin. I only wish she was around for my wedding. For the first time in a long time I felt Pretty, pretty enough to stand up in front of everyone and give a toast without looking at the floor.LOL!!!

In addition to using Laura Mercier liquid foundation she touched up my "spots" with Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage which is oil free and comes in a neat compact. I purchased the Secret Camuouflage for $28. at Nordstom's Dept. store in Rhode Island and I love it. I plan on purchasing the foundation when my Stilla Illuminating Foundation is used up. (on a budget!) Laura Mercier's products are in the same price range as MAC's but well worth every penny......also ran it by my derm. who gave it the seal of approval.

Also my acne tx includes chemical peels every 7 wks. (changed my life), Taxorac Topical at night, Duac Topical in morning, Plexion Cleanser 2x's a day, Carmol 20 for bumps on the back of my arms and EpiQuin Micro for really annoying and stubborn sun spots!!!! I plan on getting lazor treatments in the future when I can afford them. Insurance does not cover lazor tx's.....Much luck to you all. If your'e a skeptic like I am I would suggest going to a dept. store and having a artist try products on you b/f purchasing.

It can get better......beleive me!!!! Jessica p.s. attaching a pic. from wedding with my mom!!!!

If you don't want to spend high prices on makeup, I have found Mineral makeup is the way to go. I have been using it for a few months & it is great. Bare Minerals are expensive, but there are other ones that are better. My acne has definitely improved. It doesn't have all the additives as other makeup. It is a powder, so it's not yucky feeling like liquid or cream. If you go to www.everydayminerals.com , you can get samples to try. A little goes a long way with this stuff(all minerals).Ebay is a great place to get a starter kit. Also, you would need brushes. I love the stuff. Also, look at www.mineralbasics.com . They have before & after pictures of acne skin w/ & w/o makeup. But, it does help acne to get better. Trust me!!

I just bought Benefit's "PlayStick" in color "Jump Rope." The Benefit line is known for it's oil-free, skin-friendly products. So far, so good: really good coverage and my skin is up to this point calm.

I was using L'Oreal "True Match" liquid makeup, but it didn't cover well and it was causing my skin to misbehave.

I just couldn't help myself after hearing all the talk about the mineral makeup. My friend who has acne and very oily skin has been using it for about six months and said she loves it. I had been using MAC, but I think it was way too think of coverage for everyday wear, and then I went to neutrogena. Neutrogena didn't seem to cause that many more breakouts, but who knows, possibly because my skin is at an all-time low right now, though I did attribute it to other factors...anyways, I went to www.everydayminerals.com and I got some really affordable stuff! $48 with shipping, but I got two colors of foundation, concealor, bronzer, three colors of blush, four eyeshadows, and the brush...I think a good deal all in all. It should be arriving in 2 to 5 business days. I seriously hate the whole concept of having to wait for shipping. I am very into immediate gratification...I guess it is good that it will be a few days, that gives me time to come up with a way to sneak it past the DH.

Also, if you go to www.everydayminerals.com , click on the word preview & it will tell you where to send your empty containers of Bare Essentials,Jane Iredale, etc. They will send you an Everyday Minerals equivalent for free. You can't beat that. Also, they package their minerals so well, there's no mess when you get it like some of the others I have purchased.

Ok, got the mineral make up and am not that big of a fan. I don't think it gives me the type of finish I like, I feel very shiney even though I don't feel oily. I also don't get that good of coverage.

You may not be applying enough if you're not getting that good of coverage. It took me awhile before I got used to learning the best way to acheive the look I wanted . Try going to www.bareminerals.com . Click on demos & it goes through on how to apply the makeup. I know you didn't get that kind, but it works with the minerals you bought. I did alot of research on the minerals before I bought them. We don't have that kind of money to just throw around, so I wanted to make sure I could understand on how to apply them & it still took awhile to get the look I wanted. It is different than alot of makeup out there, but it can be done. Keep working at it.
