Did you notice that your face almost looked irridecent?
I know what you're talking about, but for me, it's preferable to what my skin looks like bare or with other foundation. It doesn't really bother me, but it is really noticeable in pictures. I won't wear it on my wedding day, that's for sure. But for daily use, I LOVE the coverage.

Hmmm...I will have to see. Good to know about not looking good in pictures. I am in a wedding in November and the bride also wears bare minerals. I will have to let her know. In general I never really had a problem with foundation. I just recently have been breaking out like crazy after I went off the pill.

Did you get the Glo or Matte foundation? I think the Glo does make you look shiny. Some bronzers I have used make me look hot & shiny. The key with bronzer is to use very little. So little it doesn't seem like it would do much. If they sent you Clearly Radiant, it can make you look a little shiny. HTH

I got the Glo. I think if I ever get it again I will go with Matte. I did a very unscientific study. I put on my make up with the old foundation and then the new mineral stuff and had my friends at work decide. They all went with the mineral makeup. I guess it just looks weird to me. I will see how it goes. I won't return it at least. I do think the matte makeup will help though.

Default Benefit Get Even

I have roseacea as well as some cystic acne scarring. Up until one month ago, i was using Revlon Colorstay liquid make-up to cover the flaws.

I was convinced in a walk-by make-up lady ambush(very nice lady though) to give the Get Even a try.

Wow, I'm impressed. She took a big fluffy brush a swooshed it around the pressed powder in the compact and then flipped it quickly over my entire face. Then she went over a second time over the areas that needed more coverage (my nose, cheeks and chin). The flaws disappeared under a nice matte silky feeling layer that was not heavy nor did it cake.

When i returned home about 4-6 hours later, i was expecting to see the usual blotchy oil-slicked mess that i usually see in the mirror. However, what i actually saw was great looking skin that had no oily residue and the powder had stayed exactly where she had put it! (i have to mention here that i trained myself to never touch my face after my makeup is applied so i don't know how the powder would stand up to rubbing, or patting etc).

I haven't used my liquid foundation since and i have also developed the habit of frequent gentle exfoliation so that my skin is soft and smooth to start with...

I highly recommend this product and have purchased it again as i don't want to run out...it sops up oil and does not leave a mineral shimmer at all...

Talking Love Makeup!

Hello ladies,

I love Clinique Superbalanced .....it's $17.50 and if you apply it with a cosmetic sponge it will last you FOREVER! When I am going somewhere special I use MAC Studio fix and I will literally drive home if I forget it! It s a godsend......most of the time i wear that only but if you are having pics taken I was told NOT to use the MAC because it makes you so transparent. Clinique is $17.50 but if you plan it right you can get free product if you buy something else in addition to the foundation (the super balm ROCKS!) and you usually need to spend $20 to get their promo item which if you are like me is not a problem.

I work at Bath & Body Works and we carry a line called DDF and it is so fabulous for cleansers and such......the main thing is to get your skin on a routine and it will really help! AWWWWWW i love makeup....got my job in addition to my "real" job basically just help support the habit i have! If you are looking for the cosmetic stuff though you will need to go to a Flagship store....the regular stores dont carry beauty products.

Happy shopping!

OH....i forgot to add that with MAC they recycle your old products and i think if you buy 6 you get a free lipstick which always is fun! (ie: eyeshadows, studio fix, and lipsticks)

Ok..i am done now!

Thumbs up Makeup for acne

I got turned on to mineral makeup...I went for microdermabrasion and my esthetician recommended it to me. The type I tried is called Youngblood, but i've heard good things about Bare Minerals and Sheer Cover, too. There are many brands. it took me awhile to get used to using so little makeup, but the stuff is awesome! It gave superior coverage, felt natural, looked great, and wasn't too spendy.

I would recommend jane Iredale.( www.janeiredale.com) . It's actually called the "skin care makeup"!! I use it and have been,It's so expensive though 40.00 for a pressed powder compact.I decided to switch to Iman back in july, just because it was cheaper, and I believe that's half of my breakout problem again. So I'm now back to Jane Iredale and will stay no matter what sacrifice I may have to make!!!.You can't even feel it on your skin,it offers great coverage and is especially designed for problem prone skin..It comes a wide variety of shades, lipsticks, blushes, liquid or pressed makeup. And the whole line is made from minerals.I was a lil' skeptical @ first because I'm african american and just not really surebut I'm a living witness,It does work.Hope this helps

Thumbs up

For canadian cysters who want a less expensive mineral makeup than Jane Iredale, i can really recommend this brand from this spa. http://www.pureandsimple.ca/2005/new...tml#foundation

I recently purchased this as it's a canadian spa product and i could order it through their website. I've used it for 1 week and it is amazing. You get 15 grams total product in the compact than Jane Iredale(10 grams) and the price is CAD$39.95. The colour i ordered (swiss coffee) is perfect and blends so well, that in every light condition (strong sunlight, office lighting, low light etc) it always looks great. It's blends so well into the skin it's virtually invisible for 12+hrs and doesn't have that irritating shiny look to it. I've had multiple compliments on how smooth and beautiful my skin is this past week. One light application in the morning completely covers my roseacea redness and i don't have to reapply at any time during the day or evening. One caveat is that i have oily skin and some shine does come through for me around lunchtime, but i take care of that by blotting with a tissue. The oil lifts and the colour stays so that is great too.

I can't say enough good things about this MMU. I love it and it will be my new makeup bag staple....

DrewM: After picking and rubbing off all my makeup for years and years, i decided that my face after makeup is a "no-touch zone". I only touch to blot oiliness with a tissue and i forbid myself to pick or feel for stray hairs. After i get home, and the makeup comes off is when i do hair removal and or the occasional pick....i wish there was a special way i trained myself so that others could use it but the only thing i can say is that i just decided i would not touch my face after makeup application.

P.S. I even cannot let my face touch my pillow at night as i hate the hot suffocating feel of the pillow. I always fold the pillow in half so that my ear is the only part of my face that touches the pillow...i know , i'm weird, but i think that this also has helped me remain line and wrinkle free even at 36.

I was reading one of the books I had that advocates getting rid of all the unnatural chemicals in your life. She has suggestions for what to use instead of what you normally use for everything. For makeup, she suggests using cornstarch instead. I knew that wouldn't provide enough coverage for me (besides, from the ingredients, it seems all the ingredients in the mineral makeup is natural), but I thought I'd give it a try to cut the irridensce we've been talking about from the mineral makeup for photos. Let me tell you, it works great over the mineral makeup! It's so cheap, too, and it hasn't clogged my pores! It doesn't make me look white at all, it actually makes the mineral makeup look even more natural. I was pretty sure it wouldn't break me out, because I've read when a baby has diaper rash, that's the most effective thing you can use to get rid of it fast (and it worked for DD in that matter), and sure enough, it didn't break me out at all.

Just thought I would share in case anyone else wanted to try it.

Default Avon

Avon has a great line of cleansing products for oily skin. It is called True Porefection; they have the cleanser, the toner, the mask, and the blemish target; I was very surprised to see the results that I have. I have huge pores, blackheads, and I also get these large bumps between my eyes on my forehead and nothing worked except for this avon line. It has not over-dried my skin and it feels so smooth and soft.

I do use Mary Kay make up though; it goes on light and stays with me for the whole day! The powder that they have gives you the smoothness that I look for and it totally matches my skin.....fair complextion and that is hard to match. With both of these my face is better and my break-outs are now just before I have my monthly.

The avon product you can catch on sale for 3 for $10.00. That is a lot cheaper than Mary Kay and it works. Mary Kay worked also for me but my dealer was on vacation and I ran out so I tried avon....I am so glad I did.
