What foundation gives the best coverage? I shave daily and have used Merle Norman Total Finish and it works well but would like to know if there is something even better.
I use Clinique's sure fit and I love it...it is long wearing and I love the coverage that it gives me but I don't have facial hair so I can't testify if it is good coverage for that...If I was you and had the time you might consider going to your local department store and having them do your makeup and they can show you the products that can help you with problem areas....they do this for free at most places and it can be so nice to pamper yourself a little bit without having to pay out of pocket for it...HTH..Christie

If you want a rainbow, you must first put up with the rain!!
I love Bare Minerals. One of the best things about it (for me) is that it does not cake onto my facial hair the way most foundations did. I highly recommend it!

I also started using Bare Minerals after reading so many rave reviews about it on this site.
I got the starter kit from Bare Minerals web site. http://www.bareminerals.com/home.html The kit has 2 colors of foundation, mineral veil, warmth, 3 brushes, and a compact. Its a great starter kit.
I also found another great site that sells their products for a bit cheaper normally and some other nice mineral type products. www.littlestuff4u.com
Since using the make up, I have spent way too much money on it... but its just so fun. I went to one of their boutiques and had a lot of fun buying stuff there. If you live near one, you should definetly go and have them do your make up. They will show you which colors to use and how to apply them.
I just found out its on qvc from another post-er and they have some decent deals and most importantly offer unique items that you cant get other places.
I love my bare minerals. I use the bisque too which is like a concealer freaks me out that it works b/c its powdery like. WEIRD> i like their eye shadows and glimmers and i love the GLEE powder. THe kabuki brush rocks too for putting on the base!

LOSS OF MY BABY GIRL AT 23 WEEKS 11/01
Had Aidan Fraser on March 8,2003 at 2:05pm.... 7lbs 8 oz and 20 in. long!
had miss Riley Emerson on December 29,2004 at 4:51 , 7lbs 14oz and 20 1/4 inches long.
I love Bare Escentuals, too. It really does work! Check their website to see if you live near one of their boutiques. You'll save on shipping and be able to try all the fabulous colors in person. They have great bath and body stuff, too. The liquid loofah is great for exfoliating before shaving. It may seem expensive, but the powders last forever. I've had to replace the bisque once every five months or so, and the foundation lasts that long, too.
I think Max Factor Lasting Performance is great too. It stays on and the texture is lovely.
I used Dermablend for awhile, its also very good, but you must remember to use the powder to set it. Its good for hiding blemishes due to plucking and shaving.
for those who use bare essentials/minerals...... would you be able to take and post a before/after pic? I'm dying to know if the pictures they show are 'touched up' ........ I don't live close to a boutique and I'd have to order online. Also, what shades do you use w/be bm and what do you use w/regular liquid foundations?
Thanks again!!

www.littlestuff4u.com sells "samples" of their diffiferent products, including Bare Minerals. The foundations, the finishing powder, and all their other products as well. Its not expensive imo and its prolly best to try them on your own skin. Bare Minerals has something called Bismoth in it, which irritates some peoples skin. I have sensitive skin and its ok on my face but at times it seems to irritate my neck. Its only the mineral veil that irritates me it seems. The other products she sells dont have it, I dont think.
I dont quite get the perfection they get in their adds, but it does cover well. They use the bisque multi tasking mineral as a spot concealer for stuff like pimples and blotchy areas, then put the foundation over it until your desired coverage, then the mineral veil on top of that which supposetly "sets" the make up.
I dont use the bisque much, even though I do have blotchy pink skin. I get pretty decent coverage with just the foundation. I use a combination of 1.0 (Light) and 3.0 (medium). The 1.2, 2.0, and 2.3 all have a yellow tint that I dont think looks right on my pink complection.
Another important thing is the brushes, or so they say. The starter kit from the actual Bare Escentuals site comes with 3 different brushes.
It takes a bit to get used to applying the make up. "Swirl, Tap, Buff" is how they say to do it. You put a little bit of the foundation in the lid, then swirl your brush to get it in the brisles. Then you lightly tap off the excess. You can do that in several different ways. You can tap it in the lid, on your counter or sink, or turn the brush so the bristles are up in the air and tap the excess powder into the brush further. Then you "buff" it onto your skin. Use circular type motions and just literally buff it into your skin until your desired coverage. I am personally still playing with the perfect level of coverage. Sometimes I get a bit much and it looks a little "cakey" so I just lightly wipe some off with a dry washcloth and its fine.
OK this ended up being a book. hehe. Sorry to the people who didnt want to read this much. I just wanted to be as thorough as possible to those considering buying the make up.
