Unhappy makeup and skin care questions

I have pretty severe acne and on top of that my skin gets really dry and peals. It seems that when I do find a cleanser that works it dries my face out so bad that my nose and forehead peel. So of course I use a moisturize, which I have not found one the helps my face from peeling and most make it break out worse. Does anyone else have this problem and if so what works for you. I am thinking about trying proactive since it does include moisturizer. I just get so frustrated, it's a vicious cycle and it seems I just can't win. While I was pregnant and up until I quit breastfeeding my skin was great and then I started gaining weight back and my face is a mess

As for the make up, of course I'm looking for something to cover up all of these flaws and doesn't make me feel like I'm wearing layers of makeup. I was thinking about trying bare escentuals. Just wondering if anyone uses this product and how well it works.

I am about at my wits end. My face is getting to the point that I don't want to leave the house!!!

TIA for any advise you have to offer!!

I have a suggestion that might help you. I like Bare Escentuals a lot. It's made of minerals but it doesn't have anything in it that treats your skin while you wear it. And I don't think it has the best coverage. It does give your skin a glow though.

I would highly recommend Cover Blend by Neostrata. I've been using it for a couple of years and I love it! It has the coverage needed but looks extremely natural, which is what I was looking for. It treats your skin with anti-aging ingredients and it has a 20 SPF too. I find that the product stays looking fresh all day long for me. Their finishing powder works equally well. My skin has actual improved by wearing this makeup because it treats as well as covers.

mineral makeups sound like the thing for you. Physician's formula makes some you can get at the d/s. BE has bismuth in it and that aggravates some ppls acne. I personally have used and like Aucourant, Mineral Secrets, and GloMinerals.

Also, check out makeupalley.com skincare board...you will find a wealth of help and information about skincare there.

What routine/products are you using now?

The only thing that really ever helped my skin was Accutane when I was in high school, and later being on birth control pills. I think the BCP's are just something that I'm going to have to stay on for a long time if I don't want to be pimply and hairy all the time!

I dont know if you are, but i was using a rinse off cleanser for years and it never occurred to me that it (no particular one..i tried loads) was aggravating my skin..i just thought that was the way my skin was. (dry, tight, coarse and dull..and spots) then i switched to using a cream cleanser w/ make-up remover pads and my skin instantly improved. It is not red and dull anymore and moisturiser keeps it from being dry..of course i still get some spots because of the hormones but overall i have seen improvement.
Hope this helps somebody.

Oh, and I don't wear any makeup at all except for very special occasions -- I find that it makes my skin worse.
