Default Making Babies - documentary IRISH tv

Hi everyone,

this is for any of you in Ireland and perhaps some of you in Scotland Wales and England might be able to get RTE 1 i.e. Irish t.v. station.

I dont know if any of you are aware that my dh and I participated in a documentary for Irish television wherein we allowed a film crew to accompany us on both our IVF/ICSI treatments.

The finished product i.e. Making Babies will be screened on RTE 1 tonight at 9.30 after the news and before Questions and Answers.

If any of you can I would love you to watch it and let me have yoru opinions about it. There are other couples involved i.e. donor conception and adoption.

Helen x

Hi Helen,

Just caught last nights episode. It is not the kind of thing that i like watching but everybody was talking about how well the programme was made.
I just wanted to say how brave you are to share with everybody everything that you are going through.
You really are an inspiration.

Default Love to see the series repeated

Hi Helen,

I caught only one episode of the series and would love to see these repeated again on RTE. I was diagnosed 5 years ago at age 30 with PCOS and told to "come back when you want a family, dear". My experience of the Irish medical system hasn't been that great up until now so it was very inspirational for me to see this documentary and to follow the hopes and fears of the couples involved.

Since Jan 2004 I've been using alternative therapies to regulate ovulation - Kinesiology (combination of muscle testing, homeopathy and diet), massage and Reflexology. I feel great, look 100% better but no baby... Watching this documentary has given me the push to look at other treatments - my partner and I are discussing this for action in the new year. I'd like to thank you for bravely allowing yourself to be followed by cameras during what is, I imagine, a stressful and scary time and to be so open in discussing this issue. It made me feel less alone in what I'm going through and gave me a lot of hope for the future.

Thanks a lot for this,
Siobhan

if you contact Mint Productions at www.mint.ie they will be able to furnish you a copy of the documentary. I am still waiting for my own copy as so many people have asked me for one so have to get a good few.

I am sure RTE will repeat the series again maybe in the new year. You can always email RTE at info@rte to see if they will be repeating it.

Unfortunately the irish support group (through whom Tony and I participated in the documentar) did not contact me or ring me and I am sure they got a lot of new members as a result of the documentary. We feel very let down and hurt by them but the support from strangers and colleagues at work is fantastic.

Smile making babies

Hi Helen,
Saw the programme. Cried through every one. I too have pcos for 12 years. I never had ivf... But I was lucky to hear about Dr. Phil Boyle who prescribed avandia (form of metformin), after 7 months I got pregnant........... I still cant believe it and my wee girl is nearly 1 year old. If you haven't attended Dr. Boyle take my advise and go and see him. He's based in Galway and believe me if anyone can help you , he can

am so delighted to hear about your success story and congrats again for you.

I would love to attend Dr. Boyle but my egg quality was poor and dont think he could help that.

But I am still happy to hear of your success story and congrats again.

Question pcos

Hi Helen,

Please do give Dr. Boyle a try. My egg count was absolutely terrible. It worked for me after 2 major operations and years of clomid etc.....

There is hope.

Good luck

dontgiveup,

I would love to hear more about your experience with Dr. Boyle.

As you may remember from Making Babies my egg quality was very bad hence bad grade embryos and do you really think that Dr. Boyle could work for me.

Is there any chance you could email me at helenquinn@eircom.net so that we could talk about it it further if you wouldn't mind. I really would be much obliged.

Helen
