For our first IUI last month, my dh's sperm count after the wash was 1 million. We're advised not to go ahead with any more treatments until this issue is addressed. So I'm seeing the doctor about this on Thursday.
In the meantime, I'm wondering what she'll suggest, and I'm fearful it will be IVF (like most people, we don't have that kind of cash lying around our apartment). Is there anything else she could recommend? (I.e., I've heard that guys with male factor can be prescribed Clomid, and even injectables, just like girls.) What do your clinics do in this kind of situation?

Note: I get dh to take vitamins, but that hasn't seemed to help. He gets a lot of Omega 3 every day. And I include veggies and fruit in his lunches and dinners (although in my opinion he's still not including enough), and I've reduced his consumption of red meat, salt, sugar, etc.

I'm sorry to hear that your dh's wash results weren't very good. I'm going through the same thing right now with my DH as well.
Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to fixing poor SA results, but I know that a bunch of men have improved theirs in a variety of ways. If you haven't joined the discussion on Male Factor thread in TTC buddies, you might be able to find some help there.
Good luck.

I took a look at the thread, but didn't see anything that I hadn't read before. Dh isn't a big drinker, he wears boxers, doesn't sit in hot tubs or baths, etc. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
I'm sorry you're going through the same thing. It is sort of a relief to me that dh has mf, since then I'm not the only one with a problem, but at the same time it makes TTC just so much more difficult.
Good luck to you!

there are several underlying medical conditions that can cause MFI. I'm not that familiar with them, but there are meds that can address some of the issues. ie, thyroid meds, clomid, hormones, etc.

You may want to check out a site like this one. The downside to this site is that you have to become a member before getting to view the posts. This site under the canadian clinics taught me the most about clinics and even allowed me to make some life long friends.
As well as the above site, there is this one too. Both infertility forums are very popular to Canadian couples experiencing infertility. I know I have read in the past which clinics were most recommended in the GTA for male factor, unfortunately I can't remember and don't want to recommend the wrong one.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the help, ladies (Beetle, I will check out those sites - thanks).
My RE recommends IVF + ICSI - she didn't have any other suggestions for the mf, since dh has been through thorough testing - so I'm trying to deal with this news.
