Yasmin's great! It's pretty much sorted out my acne problems in only five months. And it's slowly making a difference with my unwanted body hair as well - huge relief!
I will say that some of the language you use in your posts does seem quite forceful. Tread carefully. While I mostly behave like a rational human being, there are times when advice and being told what to do makes me flip out.
In the inital stages of my diagnosis, my mum knew more about PCOS than I did and all of her advice (although totally well-meaning and with my best interests at heart) made me feel ignorant, inadequate and out of control.
Not knowing is the worst thing. She needs to be properly diagnosed and speak to professionals about PCOS. If we are to kill the demon then first we have to say its name.
Best of luck to you both.

her doctor has given her yasmin and she has gone and bought some inositol from the health shop. im a bit concerned with the number of pills she is taking each day though.
here is a list:
fish oil * 2
b complex * 2
mulitvitamin * 1
magnesiusm and calcium * 2
vitamin d * 1
inositol * 3
yasmin * 1
with pcos, and using vitamins and supplements, it's gonna be alot of pills to take. i was taking quite a few a day before i got pregnant between my thyroid meds, antidepressant, metformin, vitamins, fish oil, etc.

i'm really pleased with the progress she is making with her moods. she seems like a totally different person. i look forward to seeing if inositol helps her too.
thanks for the kind words guys. i have let her know that she has the full support of all her sisters on soulcysters. haha. she leads quite a busy lifestyle hence the reason she doesnt come on here herself.
"im gonna make her go to the gym 5 times a week starting from next week for her 300 minutes a week."
ya the whole 5 times a week thing may go over like a lead balloon... try two times a week to start out with... then if she is up for it you can boost it (gradualy) to 5 times a week. Keep in mind that you cant "make" her do anything and if you try to hard to do that you may accidentaly push her away. Take it slow and steady. She will for sure appreciate you all the more for it!
Your care and concern for your lady are remarkable and commendable! Obviously, you love her dearly. I would however, like to point out something you seem to be missing in your understanding of PCOS. I am not trying to change your opinions on anything, just share some information so you can do your own research and then decide where you stand. You seem to be against her being on OCP but you should know it serves an important purpose. This is especially true if your lady is not actively TTC.
In a normal cycle, non-PCOS women have rising estrogen levels up to the point of ovulation. Once ovulation takes place, the ovary produces progesterone which lowers the estrogen levels until AF arrives and the cycle starts again. In women with PCOS, they frequently do not ovulate so the estrogen levels stay elevated in an effort to stimulate ovulation. This is called unopposed estrogen. It is known that unopposed estrogen levels. increases a woman's risk of endometial and breast cancer.
Also, when a woman does not have a regular AF the endometrial lining builds up causing what is called hyperpasia. This is the precursor to endometrial cancer. When a woman is on OCP the endometrial lining does not build up, even if she only has 3-4 visits from AF every year.
Another way to deal with this is to have the woman take Provera to induce AF. Some women will choose this option but many hate the side effects of the Provera and the usually heavy AF and cramping that results.
There is much information avaliable on this topic that I'm sure you will find. Again, I commend you in your support for your lady! I hope this is helpful to you.
WOW! I wish i was as dedicated to myself as you are to your woman. This might be a long one.... here we go.
I've been married for 5 years now and know that my husband has been through it! I have been battleing this thing since i was 14. But, it took someone else to tell me that there was something not quite right with me. Just a few weeks ago me and my hubby sat down and talked about how i was feeling. My mood, happiness, all that.
I have ALWAYS been opposed to meds to MAKE you feel happy. That is of course, till i joined this place. I understand now after all this time, i could have been happy when i wasn't.
Stay the course with her, she will appriciate you. And let her know that there is so much out there to learn. She needs to come join us. Some of the things I have read on here just in the past few days has made me so much better. You are doing great! Please keep it up. Even when she tells you she hates you......thats just the PCOS talkin....
Aww you are very sweet to take care of your hunny and look stuff up for her. I'm sure you've heard it already. Good luck and yeah Metformin is the way to go.
