Hi ladies, another new Brit for the thread here!

I do live in Greece, but am British through and through, would rather live in England but my DF wont leave his homeland I am originally from Nottingham, where I lived up until 2003.

I am going through a very stressful time at the moment, was made redundant from Thomson Holidays last October who I had worked for for 5 years, so me & DF are opening our own little snack bar here for the tourists (we live in a large tourist resort in Corfu). We wanted to open on 1st May, but are having SOOOOOO many problems with paperwork / license / cash flow / bank loan etc that we are still nowhere near. And neither of us are working cos we thought the bar would be open by now so have NO income whatsoever - there is no 'jobseakers allowance' here!!! We are getting by these few weeks eating lentils, chickpea soup, pasta with tomato sauce etc and drinking only water. Its amazing how bare essentials like toilet paper can stress you out when you have no cashflow lol.

Sorry to rant during my introduction!

I have not been dx yet - but believe I have PCOS cos i came off BCP 7 months ago and my cycles since then have been 49, 34, 52 & 50 days long!!! Since I have no cash for a Dr appt, I searched online for reasons for extra long cycles and came accross PCOS, and many of the other symptoms jumped out at me aswell (acne, belly fat, excess hair). I would love to TTC but DF says he is not ready, but today is my BIRTHDAY and I am starting to feel old, that I should be a mama by now, and now I am worried about infertility on top of money / the business.

- I dont usually moan this much by the way!!!

Aspirin - 80mg (O to AF)
Green Tea - 1 cup
Apple Cider Vinegar - 2 spoons before largest meal of the day
Grapefruit Juice - 1 glass
Vitex - 1200mg (started 10th Aug)
Plan B - Soy Isoflavones (if Vitex doesnt work)

Welcome to the thread / boards and happy birthday

Maybe u or DF could get a minimal part time job for the minute , even if it only brings u 100 pounds a week or the equivalent to greek money then u could get things like toliet roll food drinks ect

Thanks for the lovely welcome Guys (and the strawberries, Eva!!)

Yeah, Jess, It would be great if one of us could find a part time job but unfortunately the tourists only come to Corfu May to October and noone wants to hire someone in May when its not too busy, only for them to leave when it starts to get busy...... We will manage, DF's Grandma lives downstairs from us and is giving us tips on how to live cheaply, bless her!

On a lighter note, I am trying to have a 'better' diet too, not strictly low GI, but didnt do at all well today, had potato pie (from the mother in law, a little strange) and ice cream - not good at all, but did have starter of homemade beans in tomato sauce. Oh, and the ice cream was homemade. Getting hungry again now though........ haha!

Jess, it brought back all sorts of memories when you were talking about your last day at school. I was never a great student, but I think the emotional thing for me was the unsurity (is that a word) for the future, and knowing life would never be the same again. Yes, it was a scary and emotional time for me. I could never have guessed back then, that I would be where I am now.

Iv had a sucky weekend too lol, aren't we all happy ladies today!

I was in a foul mood on Friday and who should happen to ring? my on/off bf (long story) saying hes in UK and wants to see me in few weeks. With my mood swings and when he talks to me ill either tell him to get knotted or tell him i cant wait too see him. i hate being this messed up.

Theoretically ladies, if i got anti depressants tomorrow, in approx 2 weeks would my mood swings have evened out?

This is last time im gonna ask for em and if he says no im gonna scream, poke him wit a stick lol then move GP's.

Iv asked repeatedly for them over 3 years and hes always said no, saying that anti depressants can actually cause suicidal thoughts in younger people but i know there are people way younger than me taking them?

I wonder if i printed out some of the articles on here about the links with depression and pcos might get him to listen to me?

Aww Chantelly ((hugs)). Sorry you're feeling so bad. I'm also thinking about going on them, but I'm unsure because I have heard you can become dependant on them. If your doctor does say no, then couldn't you ask for some councilling, or other help?

Also, I'm unsure how long they take to work, so can't answer your other question. (Sorry).

Im unsure about counselling as im not sure what good talking about the pcos would do? Yeah i have other issues but the main one causing the depression is good old pcos.

Ill be ringing first thing in morning or ill be going down there when the doors open to get an appointment as its terrible trying to ring up lol.

You never know, it might help. I feel like I'm in the same boat as you because ever since I was DX, I feel like I have been going on a downwards spiral, even though I have other issues which started about a year ago. I'm glad you're going to the dr's, I'm only going because I sobbed down the phone to mine when she was giving me my blood test results. xxx

hi all - thought I'd pop on and just rant about how dreadfully non low GI I have been for the last few days - tummy NOT feeling great, but it's so hard to pick the sensible option when you are out, isn't it?

I'd forgotten just how great chips are...and cakes...

well i had a good weekend! got nice and drunk on friday night, saturday went for my dress fitting for my bridesmaid dress (which has to be taken in a lot cos ive lost weight woo hoo!!) and yesterday was DH's nephews christening. woke up this morning to the sun shining so going to go out and sunbathe in a bit!
