I had my first consultation with Dr. V yesterday and I feel that things went well. Although I wanted to hear that we had a chance at immaculate conception I know realisticly that it's not possible. Our game plan is to do IVF in the New Year.
I am quite the the trooper after doing numerous clomid cycles, injectible/iui cycles, ivf and fet cycles but switching clinics is a little nerve racking for me and I was wondering if there are any other Ontario Cysters that have gone to the Markham Fertility Centre or is thinking of going to the clinic?
Thanks.
I see Dr Pyselman across the hall from Virro... A girl I worked with got PG 3 times with Dr V I hope it meets your needs and you find all your happiness
Take care,
Amy

Thanks Amy,
With your friends success that definately gives us hope with Dr.V.
Zena,
We finally got the call the other day and went to see him yesterday. He seems very aggressive but very sure we will get pregnant. The only thing I didn't like was he told me to lose as much weight as I can before our cycle. Mark had a sperm dna test yesterday and his results will determine if we will do ivf for sure as well I have to have a sono-hsg in January(Thanks to TCART they may have done damage to my uterus). I will also get the results from my pap so hopefully everything will fall into place the way it should and we will be doing the ivf cycle in February which will be great since we will be settled from the move and be living 5 minutes up the road from the clinic.
I have been going to the Markham Fertility Centre since march of last year. At this point we have been back once (this september). His goal for me is to lose some weight. I was supposed to be down 30lbs between march and september (but only managed about 15. He then told me he would like me to lose a little more (30 more to be exact, although he would settle for any) and I now go back in March, I'm down a total of 35lbs since March 2004. He said he would work with us even if I didn't lose the weight, but that the weight loss would hopefully make our treatments better and cheaper! As he knows we do not want to get into IVF as there is no way we can afford it. We have not done any other treatment yet other than 1 round of clomid (but that was with a quack of a dr, not dr. v)
I think at times Dr. V can be taken as cold, but I find him direct, and matter of fact. At least he is willing to do what will make us happy and not what will make is pocketbook happy! He seems very knowledgeable and I really value the opportunity to work with him.
My DH had the dna test as well, since he is on MANY medications and the dr was worried that it would not be good, turned out much better than we thought, no problems on that end.
It's great you are so close, it's more than an hour for me to go, and I'm not looking forward to the possiblility of going every morning for monitoring.
Thanks Ceci,
My husband and I appreciated your input.
Currently we are about 1/2 hour away from the clinic but thankfully in a month we will be 5 minutes away(even closer if we don't hit any red lights between our place and the clinic)
It is always nice to know that a doctor cares more about your treatment than their pocketbook(quite rare in todays society)
Thanks again,
Lori
Hello.
I too have been twice to this clinic. I was seeing Dr. Plyseman. She is a wonderul woman. Very caring and easy to chat with.
I never did see Dr. Vero. but my neighbour just did her first IVF with him. She has been seeing him for a couple of years with no sucess yet and I believe is considering a second opinion.
Thanks Lynds,
After all the hassle we went through at our previous clinic it was nice to get a second opinion. Dr. Virro did seem to know what he was talking about and I will be seeing him again in a couple weeks hopefully my second visit impression of him will be as good as the first.
We have done IVF/ICSI at MFC with Dr.Virro, but unfortunately it was BFN with no eggs to freeze.
We did the DNA on my husband's Boys and they are O.K and through IVF/ICSI we found out his sperm can fertilize my eggs.
My eggs are o.k. We had 10 eggs retrieved. 3 of them too young/old. From 7, 6 of the eggs fertilized but 2 of my eggs allowed too much sperm in. So we were left with 4 eggs. 1 Blastocyst, 1 Morula, 5 and a 6 cell. We transferred the Blast and the Morula. The 5 & 6 cell did not go on.
I only have good things to say about MFC and Dr.Virro. He can come across direct and to the point, but I feel comfortable with him and he has a Great Rep!!
I would do IVF again, but I am seriously looking into acupuncture before and if we do IVF agian in combination with IVF.
Good Luck!! Just be prepared for the emotional ups and downs to IVF.
Thanks corbella,
I noticed this was your first post...Welcome to Soulcysters & thanks for taking the time to post. I really appreciate it.
Having done ivf once already I know all about the ups and downs but it definately doesn't make it any easier. I think we got a total of 13 eggs with our last cycle and they were all pretty good but we only did a 3 day transfer and obviously picked the wrong ones to transfer.
I did find Dr. Virro very direct and to the point we are hoping that he knows as much as we felt he did with our first appointment.
I have to go the clinic next Monday and Tuesday for a Sono-HSG. I am definately not looking forward to it but am happy to be getting the cycle in motion again.
I had the sono HSG done when I ws first there. I couldn't believe how fast it was, honestly didn't even know they were doing it and it was done. The Dr (radiologist?) was very friendly and had a great sense of humour.
