Default Marvelon anyone?

Hey!

My doctor just change my BCP. I was on Try-Cyclen, but now she changed me on Marvelon. Anyone on it?

She changed me, 'Cause I had awful moodswings and depression, which according to her ain't normal, so she tought that giving me a lower dose will probably solve the problem. We hope it's the case!! So ya, that's it, just wondering if anyone was on Marvelon too, 'cause it was the first time I ever heard of the BCP. But then again, there's like a zillion BCPs out there! lol

Hi SweetAngel19,

I was on Marvelon several years ago and I did not do too well on it. I seem to recall that my periods were really heavy and I generally felt quite unwell while on it. Also, just to advise you, in addition to the Ethinyl Estradiol, Marvelon contains the progestin Desogestrel, which is one of the more potent progestins that is used in birth control pills (which is not good for some women with PCOS). However, you may do quite well on it - everyone is different and everyone has very different reactions to medications. I was also on Alesse last year, which has Levonorgestrel as the progestin (similar to Desogestrel in that they both have higher potency than some of the other progestins available), and I found that it really aggravated my hair loss so I went off it...however, many women with PCOS do really well on it. I think the only way to know is to give it a try!

Good luck on the Marvelon! I hope it works for you!

Keep us posted.
