This is a great website! It helps to see that quite of the things that my endo has put be on is correct, since we are doing alternative things before putting me on metiforin.

MaryKate, I am very impressed with your webpage -- I have been refering to it a lot recently. I noitced that you have a pill form 'Example Supplement Regimen', (#1) and a powder form, (#2). That is good information! May I ask which form you generally prefer? I was sort of thinking of some pills and some powder formulas (to go into a smoothy) -- I like the idea of pre-measure the powdered products for some number of days in advance instead measuring from several bottles everday -- then do you store several days worth of all your powdered suppliments together in one container or place each days worth in a seperate container? Also have you been following a regimen similar to one of those for a good period of time and if so, would you mind saying what changes you have noticed with your PCOS symptoms?

Thanks for all of the good work, the good informaiton and research and for sharing!

Mary, I will definitely be a frequent visitor of your site! I have had it with the RX drugs, and am ready to try something new. Do you know much about Black Cohosh? Thanks so much!

I wanted to add that copper can be detremental for PCOS because it causes ovarian cysts, and decreases zinc which is an antiandrogen and antinflamitory. Estrogen excess (common in PCOS) collects extra copper, and birth control pills increase copper to near toxic levels. This can be remedied by taking Zinc daily at 15mg.

Sadly most multivitamins contain too much copper and anything above 2mg daily is hazardous for PCOS.

I took SP before I had Owen, and my androgen levels went down (bloodwork showed it). However, I forget how much I was taking. I know it was from CD1 through to O, but I don't recall the dose.

I hope Mary Kate is still around! I found her web page when I first started finding out about PCOS a couple of years ago. The information she has compiled is very valuable, even if you don't personally use some of it. I was originally diagnosed about 20 years ago and not much was know about the PCOS at that point. Mary Kate is one of the women who shared her experiences and knowledge to help all of us. Many thanks!

I was wondering why to avoid licorice? Because it is too salty? I just started with a low GI diet, but I thought I could still eat licorice.

Thanks
