Default masive migraines

I know that this is "normal" but how to you deal with your migrains. I get them now and then and i cant breath without wanting to cry, it gets to the point that i feel like im going to be sick. when i was a teen my parent took me to the doctor a few time and had a load of test done and he couldnt' find anything wrong with my head so he said i was doing it for the attention. attention my ***. If i catch it early somtimes i can help it but most of the time i just deal as best. I hadn't had them im a long time after my ob got my hormones in check, but the past few days i've just wanted to jump off the bridge my head hurst so bad

((((hugs)))))

I feel your pain, literally. I had a 4 day migraine from Friday - Tuesday last week, it was horrendous, I too was having awful thoughts because it hurt to just "be".

I've had so many tests and tried different medications, nothing really works for me so far I don't know if they're related to the PCOS or not??

I just wanted you to know you're not alone.

Thanks for the hugs

my ob had asked me about them when he first saw me, and alot of the book im reading say that your hormones and give you migranes. i've tried alot of things dh has to take me to the hospital sometimes and i get and iv drip of something. cant remember what it is off hand. meditation helps sometimes just because it gets me very relaxed and calm. then again sometime the best is just a few large shots of strong rum until i pass out works best...lol

When I can catch it early, I take Imitrex, Maxalt, or even Midrin. If I'm too late, like if I wake up with it, I take an NSAID, usually Aleve or ibuprofen, and 1,000mg of Tylenol (you can take them together - NSAIDS are metabolized by the kidneys, Tylenol by the liver - nothing gets "overloaded"), take a compazine (an anti-nausea drug), and drink something caffeinated. Usually a soda, but coffee is good, too.

Then I slightly elevate my head, and apply an ice pack to where the pain in my head is, and a hot pack to my feet. It is uncomfortable, but migraines are caused when the blood vessels around your brain dilate and become inflamed , and pump too much blood into the area, causing the pressure and pounding that makes you want to die. So if you add ice to the head/neck area, it helps the vessels constrict. And the heat makes vessels dilate, and brings more blood to the area, so if you put it at your feet, it won't be so close to your brain, right? DO NOT PUT HEAT ON YOUR HEAD. Heat, feet.

I top it off with a dark, quiet room - earplugs and a blindfold can work really well - and wait it out.

I hope you feel better soon!

I would recommend Fioricet to anyone with migraines or tension headaches. It is prescription, but for me it's worth it. My dr. recommended I take it then lay down in a dark room for 20-30 minutes with a cool rag on your forehead, and ever since they have been good and I can deal better. It contains Acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine, and you can get it with codeine if the pain is that bad. I don't know much about the one with codeine and how it works. http://www.migraines.org/treatment/pro_frct.htm There's a helpful site that links you to the fioricet info, but migraines.org has a lot of helpful info too. I hope you can get help! Feel better *hug*

I get them to and my doctor prescribed Maxalt as long as I "catch" it in time. He also prescribed another medicine, but the s/e were to much. Other than that Aleve, caffeine, and dark seem to help the best. I hope you feel better soon!!

I've heard that fybromyalgia could be a cause of constant headaches, anyone else heard this? I have a headache everyday, in varying degrees and it drives me crazy, no one has been able to help me yet

hi i understand your pain anf fustration i was getting very bad migraines then a dr told me the spironolactone i take could be causing my headaches so i stopped the medicine to test it and it was the spironolactone are you on spironlactone? if you are you should tell the dr and ask for a lower dosage

if that doesnt help there is a condition called a pfo you can google it it is a hole in between the left and right atria of the heart that causes migraines the hole is normal everyone has it during fetal development it is supose to close after birth but in some people it doesnt and can cause heart murmurs and migraines with also seeing white spots or flashes of lights later in life

hope this helps feel better
