What is the max dose of Metformin? I currently take 2000mg. 2 with breakfast and 2 with dinner. I have only been on it for about 6 weeks. I have not had Af yet.

ive been on 1000mg metformin for 2years now and still dont get my AF w/o help of progesterone.

My RE goes by the Ohio Dr's that found that Met worked on PCO'ers. They published a study last year and they felt the highest we should go is 2550. (3 850 mg pills 3x day)
But my RE admits that he is aggressive in his treatment plan.

I just started taking met today. I am going to work my way up to 2550 of met.

I was on the highest dose until I was referred to my RE. Man I had terrible side effects. The RE lowered my dose to 500mg tablets. I take 3 a day. Now I feel much better.
