My Mood: Points: 18,615.25 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 18,615.25 | nikkiraz- Congrats!!! Ty is just adorable! Its so nice to hear a positive natural birth story and I can't believe you are home already!! Happy birthday and enjoy your baby!!
alwayzrn- I was JUST thinking about you today and wondering how you are doing!! I can't believe you are 10 weeks already!! That is wonderful!! Its always great to hear from you To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
kutrina- Wow, I can't believe that you are still pregnant!! When we hadn't heard from you for awhile, I thought you were going to tell us you had the twins!! That's wonderful though, the longer the girls stay in there, the better! Hang in there... the end is near!!
Karen- Thanks for answering my question! I lol at "mommy ears", I think I already have them! I know this is really pathetic but, I totally do the same thing with my dogs! They sleep under this big blanket by our bed and I'm better about it now but, for the longest time, I would get up and put my hands on them to make sure they breathing... I was always worried they would suffocate under there. And, to this day, if Shorty gets "untucked" out of his bed all he has to do is walk over to my side and stare at me and I'll wake up and re-tuck him in. They are going to be in for a shock when they are no longer the "babies" of the house! Yeah, I guess it will be a lot of long nights! I do plan to try to breastfeed plus, dh works overnight a lot and is often home JUST to sleep (he get 8 hrs. off after 30 hr. shifts every 3-4 days) so, majority of the feedings/baby duty will be left to me. Man, I thought I was tired and not getting sleep now! I'd better enjoy it while I can! Speaking of which, I should be off to bed... I only got a few hours last night and I've got a lot planned tomorrow!
Have a good night everyone! |

Meighan - Yeah, it really took me awhile to get used to Nicolas' sleep patterns. Because he was in the NICU and I was pretty out of it the first 2 days of his life, he's been on bottled formula. They had gotten him on a 3 hour feeding routine, and so far he's been like clockwork. In the beginning, I was having a tough time with having to wake up twice a night in order to prepare a bottle for him. For some reason, my dh hasn't been too helpful when it comes to helping me feed/diaper him. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm on maternity leave and he feels that since he has to work, I can lose sleep in the middle of the night and catch up sometime during the day. I've gotten over it, but in the beginning I was VERY frustrated. Anyway, I haven't been able to transition him from bottle to boob so I'll probably give that up. Karen is totally right, you start lacking in the REM sleep. For me, getting up to go to the kitchen and preparing the bottle and then feeding him for 30 minutes and then changing his diaper...it takes awhile to fall back asleep. Maybe I wouldn't have noticed the lack of sleep if it hadn't been for the fact that Nicolas spent 13 days in the NICU and in those days, I was able to have a full night's sleep unlike my last months of pregnancy when I was going to the bathroom twice a night.
Adrianne - It's always good to "hear" from you! I miss you, but I'm happy you have another little one on the way.
Dawn - Welcome! It sounds like you might be having your baby about the same gestational time I had mine. Good luck!
Kutrina - Glad to hear you're hanging in! Sounds like your girls will be here soon.

Points: 7,775.75 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,775.75 | Meighan- Good luck growing your lil' shrimp! I bet he's fine. My sis had a 3 pounder at 34 weeks and she was fine! (She should have been 5 lb at that pt). The little girl was just destined to be a tiny girl, as my sis' MIL is like 4 feet 10 and 80 pounds. She's 12 now and still a natural stringbean.
Why can't you have an epidural? After reading Lea's commentary on natural, I fell in love with the idea of being able to walk around and relieve your own pain as much as you can with body movements. Thats what Sears' book preaches, and they swear it makes things move along quicker because the pain is actually a guide to get the baby out ASAP. But, with us being first time mommies, everything is going to freak us out because we haven't experienced it before.
Nikkiraz- I loved your birth story. I'm happy everything went so quick for you!
AlwaysRN- Glad to hear from you!! Keep us posted on your progress!!

With Tiana, we used Similac Soy. Dh has a lot of allergies, etc and we wanted to be extra careful. She loved it.

W2 - I've decided to use GoodStart formula with this baby. My dd had a lot of reflux and stomach problems. I used Similac with my dd only b/c that's what they gave her in the NICU and trying to change her to a different formula with her stomach issues was unsuccessful.
Kutrina - great to hear you are still baking your little girls. Keep us posted.
Nikki - WTG girl! Sounds like you had an awesome labor and delivery and all natural too - how wonderful. Ty is just beautiful. Hope all is going well with both of you at home.
Southern - love the pic of your princess in her crib. She looks so peaceful. Great to hear she is such a wonderful sleeper. Hope it continues.

A for formula, we use Good Start A+, I have used Enfalac with my others thought too. Don't stock up on whatever you buy, because you never know, some babies, prefer a different kind, or as others have said need, to be switch because of allergies, collic or reflux.
Have to go look after Tavin now, he had his circumcision today......he slept right through it! Now, I am trying to get him to stay awake to eat! Silly Boy!

It wasn't a peaceful experience as Tavin's though To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. . In fact, we were both traumatized! Did they give you any meds for after care? I was told to give him Tylenol.
Want2 - I've been using Similac NeoSure for preemies. He was on this in the NICU and his pediatrician wants him on it for a little bit longer. Not sure if I like it though because he seems to have a lot of gas. On the bright side, I think it makes him gain weight faster...he now weighs 7lbs as of this morning!

I hate the first 24 hours, always scared to change his diaper, ugg... Hoping the bandage doesn't fall off early, there is no bleeding etc......lol.......darn boys......Has he been sleepy today too? Tavin is just so out of it......I get him on to eat, then he falls asleep again in minutes......hoping that means he will not be up all night tonight!
