| Mutant cyster Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Central MA ![]() | Can't shake these dang headaches. When I ovulated with the trigger back in February, I had these headaches starting around 8dpo, maybe a day or two earlier, and they lasted into my period. I know I get headaches when my e2 crashes, which it must have since I ovulated. However, I've been headachey, for the past 3 days. I suppose it could be allergy related. Anyway, I hope it's not just PMS headaches that I'll have for the next 10 days. That would really suck---to have a headache for two weeks and then get AF. Or worse, have AF show up at 8dpo, and the headaches that preclude it have started earlier because my luteal phase blows. Im only taking tylenol, which doesn't really help, JUST IN CASE Im getting pg. I know that if there is an embryo, it's not implanted yet, and it probably doesn't matter what I take today. Does anyone know if there's a correlation between progesterone level and headaches? I'll go google it and see if I can find anything.

Also I've read that Advil (ibuprofin) can interfere with implantation so don't take any of that. I too have been battling a headache for over a week now. I'm not sure if maybe AF is on her way or what! Steph: I've been voting for your bag.

| Mutant cyster Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Central MA ![]() | Well, I did some research and there is no correlation between progesterone levels and headaches. it's all about the estrogen. I already knew I was prone to estrogen-withdrawal headaches. Every month (while on bcp) when it was placebo week, I'd have headaches/migraines which would start maybe the day before AF, and last until I took the next real pill. Apparently, the magic number is 40-50pg/ml---however, you only get the headache if your E2 drops below this AFTER a sustained priming phase. In normal people, there is an e2 priming phase while follicles mature, then it drops---but then it recovers and then drops again right at AF, if no fertilization. While this particular series of headaches that Im having may have nothing to do with hormones, what Im afraid of is that my e2 dropped post-o, like it should have---but didn't/can't recover like in most women, because I never produce enough of it on my own anyway. If that is really true (and Im just positing a theory here) that would mean my e2 is lower than normal during my luteal phase---now I have to find out if low e2 at this time could prevent a pg from occurring. Don't they give e2 to women during an IVF cycle? Back to google. Thanks, Kristy, but I get headaches frequently enough that I would never assume that it means early pg. It's too early for implantation, let alone any other symptoms.

| Mutant cyster Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Central MA ![]() | Well, low E2 in luteal phase may or may not lead to preclinical pregnancy loss. Maybe I'll call the RE and ask about this. Im sure they'll very kindly answer my question with " Dr. P only gives progesterone supplements and he's been doing this for 20yrs so he knows all about it and don't worry your pretty little head." I'm almost positive that e2 supps are given during IVF.....

| Mutant cyster Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Central MA ![]() | http://humrep.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/reprint/den115v1 here's a very recent article stating that they don't see a difference between pg rates in IVF women who get e2 + p4 during luteal phase vs. women who only get p4. Randi--maybe I could take soy. I was told that it was ok to drink soy milk or eat soy based products while taking Gonal F---just to avoid soy while taking Clomid. Regardless, the soy avoidance was so there would be no interference with ovulation. Since o has occurred, at least drinking or eating soy should be fine. I'd be wary of taking a soy pill because I've never found one that didn't also have other stuff in it, which might be bad to take at this time. maybe I'll buy some soy milk on my way home from work and go to town.

Amy sorry for the headache. As a completely off topic thing and because you are our mouse guru - is it rats that have hairless tails and mice have hair? I have chocolate mice I put on my cakes but noticed today they are a slightly different design and it looks like the tails on them are sortof ribbed looking and I thought that was rats (completely pointless q i know) Mona how are you getting on, any AF yet? Ursula I'd send you one but not so sure it'd be any good by the time it got there Randi don't work to hard I feel all emotional today and needy, I've been talking to DH on the phone and being a right pain ![]()

| Mutant cyster Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Central MA ![]() | Hela--both rats and mice have SOME hair on their tails, but mice have kind of an all-over soft fuzzy down. Rats have the ribbed looking tails, with sparser hair on them. Rat tails are not slimy or even cold unless the rat has been swimming or something. (i have two pet rats and their tails are very smooth and usually rat body temp to touch). At least with domesticated rats (lab rats, pet varieties) rat fur and mouse fur is equally soft to the touch. Wild rodents probably have coarser hair, plus if they are living in garbage, they wouldnt' be nice to cuddle.
