My Mood: Points: 7,011.35 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,011.35 | Ugh, yesterday was weigh in day. While it was a loss, it was a rather sad one at only 0.4 lbs. GRR! I thought I was doing so good too! So not only did I not lose that much, I also got lectured by the WW meeting leader about not using all my points. I get 32 points a day and for the life of me can never eat them all. I will usually come home from work with 20 points left over! Of course dinner is never that many, so I am stuck with all these extra points. I was told that if I actually eat all the points I will lose more weight I just can't figure out how!
-sorry to those of you who are struggling to stay in your daily points! I am probably not helping

I've had that problem a few times, but never as many as 20. What about fruit smoothies? That would be a fast and easy way to get some points in!
Anybody have a good low point/fat recipes for foods they are going to eat this holiday weekend? I am nervous because PMS is kicking my butt, and I know I am going to want to eat pototo salad. Monday is normally my weigh in day but not this week cause we are off for memorial day. Uggh!

I am probably not helping | If you eat less calories than your body needs to get trough the day then your metabolism will slow down. That is why you are supposed to make sure you eat all your points everyday. Do you have a Smoothie King where you live? Their smoothies are usually 7pts or so and if you get their protein smoothies they are a little more. Peanut Butter crackers are good too.

Mermaid: Remember that losing "only one pound" each week adds up to a 52 lb weight loss in a year. Remember where you were a year ago. If you're as old as me, a year seems like no time at all when you look back on it.
| That is SUCH a great way of looking at it!! I love that kind of positive thinking! Today's weigh-in showed I lost only 0.8 lbs, and I was not thrilled at all. When I got home, my mom said, "See, that points system doesn't work!" She is a really negative thinker. And I repeated the above quote to her to show her how a positive-thinking person approaches things, versus how she does!
I will also keep in mind that I am building muscle as well since my workout habits have increased...I am still going to aim higher! And, it turns out that I couldn't walk to my WW mtg today, because I realized the sidewalk ends at some point, and I'd be crossing a very busy intersection --it was way too dangerous to attempt!
This week, I'm going to experiment with the Core plan. I just want to see how it goes for awhile, since I have come to realize that I feel so much better whenever I eat core foods anyway. Maybe I'll even lose a little bit more weight this week, but I'm just taking it one day at a time.

My Mood: Points: 15,660.43 Bank: 48,487.93 Total Points: 64,148.36 | I weighed in on Saturday and I was up .6 pounds. I didn't really eat that healthy last week. I am not doing much better this week either, and it is only the second day. Yesterday was my brother's birthday so we had a birthday celebration for him. Today I have already eaten all of my points and it is only 1:15. I am going to have to find a low point dinner. I also hope to get in some exercise this afternoon. My younger brother graduate from high school next Saturday and all of my family will be here. I won't be home for my Sunday weigh in, so I will have to weigh in either on Friday or on Monday.

I have already used 12 of my weekly points and it is only the 3rd day of the week! AF is here and she has come a few days early. Tomorrow is my last night class until October so we are having a potluck. This weekend my brother is graduating from High School and my whole family will be there. I know I will eat too much. My Grandpa will be here and he always tells me how much I need to lose weight (because I haven't figured that out myself ), but then he expects me to eat 3 pretty big meals a day.

My Mood: Points: 571.80 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 571.80 | Hello. I'm mostly a lurker, but I was wondering if I could ask you guys a question about WW.
Quick background-Dx in 2001, put on 1500mg of met when we were TTC, but as soon as we stopped, doc took me off....said "you don't need it for any other reason other than TTC" um...yeah. So, not until a couple of months ago I found a wonderful doctor who is extremely knowledgeable about PCOS, and put me back on MET, 2000mg actually.
Yep, need to try to loose weight, again.....like duh, I've been overweight my whole life. I have done low carb before, well a couple of times (since I was originally told this was best for PCOS), and as worked but I just cannot stay on that way of eating. Mostly expense wise, and not good on my colon. (I have IBS and diverticulitis).
So, finally, here is my question. I have never considered WW before as when I have tried in the past to loose weight with low fat diets, it didn't work that well. Lost some yes, but very very slow....so gave it up. BUT, I'm wondering if that would be different now since I am on Met? Have any of you had better results with WW after being put on Met?? |

My Mood: Points: 9,093.32 Bank: 16,196.66 Total Points: 25,289.98 | I've had very good luck within the last three or four weeks, and I think one of the differences was restarting Met.
I also rotate between the WW flex program (where you count points) and the Core program (which is a more low-carb option). I lose more with Core, but I do lose consistently no matter which I'm on.
And you should always exercise, as I understand that building muscle helps raise metabolism and lower insulin resistance.
HTH.

ITA with Jilcon mom!
I am not on met so I can't answer that part. But I think there are several things that is good about doing WW. They make you track what you put in your mouth and think about what you are eating. Two if you attend meetings you get to learn from other people, and have a support system!

The problem is that my grandpa doesn't always think that way. He called me shortly after I had my knee surgery, and after he asked how I was he immediately went into how I needed to lose weight. I told him I had lost over 50 pounds and he said, "I know that is what your mom told me, but you still need to lose more." He told me how being overweight is hard on your knees (like I didn't know that) and I just wanted to tell him that me being fat had nothing to do with my knee injury. I hurt my knee because I my feet were tingling because I had a vitamin B12 deficiency and as I was running the tingling went up my leg. Then my leg just gave out on me. If I would have weighed 120 pounds and had a vitamin B12 deficiency, the same thing would have happened. Anyway, sorry for my rant.
Evieths ~ I agree with Jillconmom. Exercise is a very important part of weight loss. I don't take met, so I can't help you with that. What I can tell you is that WW is a very good program. I have lost over 50 pounds in about 1 and half years.
