Has anyone else tried this? This is NOT Medifast, this is a physician monitored diet that is done at a local center. They are a chain based out of Florida and there are a number of them throughout the country.
I started Day 1 yesterday and am just curious about whether any other cysters else have done it.

Hi, I know nobody ever responded to me but I thought I would post an update in case another cyster ever comes looking for info on this program.
I began Medi on 5/1/09. The initial visit includes an EKG, bloodwork, full medical history, bp and weight check, and a visit with the physician.
This is a calorie and carb restricted program. After the first week (which is similar to Atkins induction) you eat protien, veggies and fruits. Some starchy fruits and veggies are not allowed for the acute (weight loss) phase. The clinic supplies you with an herbal fat burner and Rx appetite suppressant. The appetite suppressant is not taken by everybody, it depends on your health needs. Different people take different amounts. I also take Omega 3's because some of my bloodwork indicated that I needed it (I buy these at the supermarket). There are no required products but they do have protien bars and shakes you can purchase if you want. I have tried both and am not a fan.
I eat food from the supermarket and we eat out frequently.
Exercise is an important part of the program. You are expected to exercise at least 3 times per week for 30-60 minutes. I have found myself doing much more because it really makes a difference.
**I have been on the program for 7 weeks and have lost 32.4 lbs and 2 sizes. I am exercising 5 days per week (and enjoying it!) and eating fresh, healthy foods, not something from a box. I have a lot more to lose (my goal is 100lbs) but I'm really proud that this program is helping me learn a healthy lifestyle with real, normal food and reasonable portions. I visit the clinic weekly to weigh in, have my blood pressure checked, and talk about any issues that come up or things I need help with.
Once you reach your goal weight, you go into a maintenance phase where you continue to visit weekly as you add whole grains, starches, etc, back into your diet. From what I understand, it is trial and error and the nurses and Dr work with you to figure out what will allow you to maintain your weight. You also wean off the appetite suppressants.
I just wanted to post this info in case another cyster comes hunting for details. So far this has been life changing for me. I see this as a "reset" for my eating and exercise habits. I am relearning how to eat and think about food and I'm very proud of my success.
Hope this helps someone down the road!

Thanks Kat I know you're all about diet and exercise as a way to combat PCOS! This program is working for me so maybe some other cysters who need it will learn more about it too.
One of my goals is to run a 5K.. maybe this fall? I am not a runner but having success at weight loss and exercising consistently has made me see my body in a new way!

I don't know where you are in FL but perhaps they have a location near you? I live near Tampa where I believe the program began.
If you go to http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/medi-weightloss/ this is a great message board (not run by Medi) where I get a lot of info and support. Low Carb Friends is a huge message board but the Medi area has been very informative for me!

The initial appointment is around $250. That includes your EKG, full blood work, physical, pregnancy test (if needed), consult with the physician, and the 1st month of fatburner, vitamins, a "starter pack" which includes a food scale, insulated bag, "checkbook" style food record, ketosticks, and some other things (I can't remember what else). I found a $50 coupon in a local magazine and I know some other clinics run coupons for new patients as well.
After that, the weekly visits are $70. That includes your week's worth of appetite suppressant (it is a controlled substance, so they will not give more than 1 week at a time), your bp and weight and consult with the nurse. You can also meet with the Dr if you need to.
My clinic offers some discounts. I am a teacher, so I get 20% of all my visits, bringing them down to $56. I know they give discounts to some local businesses, so it never hurts to ask.
This is expensive, yes. But so are all those "boxed meal" programs. This program is a huge financial commitment for me and my family, but I use that as a motivator. I don't want to pay 1 more week than I have to! So I have made it over 7 weeks without ever "cheating" and have consistently lost every week.
The only other costs are additional vitamins if you use theirs (I don't, I just use Target brand multivitamins like I always have) and Fat Burner. Not everyone takes the Fat Burner but I think for me, it helps. It's an herbal supplement. Of course, you can buy their protein shakes or bars, but like I said, I'm not a fan. I like some of the South Beach bars that I can buy at the grocery store for a whole lot cheaper.
Hope this helps. Like I said, this is an expensive program but for me, it's been worth every penny and the cost is a motivator. It's something to sit down with your DH and discuss. We have cut back in other areas so that I can do this, which makes me want to work HARD!
BTW, once you reach your goal weight and go into maintenance, you no longer pay the weekly fees. I believe you can pay for 1 visit and come as often as you need to for a month.
If you spend some time on the low carb friends message board, you'll find lots of people who have lost consistently week by week just like me, as well as the maintenance people. This program works if you stick to it!

Kat- Is there one of the downloads that you think is more suited for walking? I looked through and didn't see one specifically, although their site says that they are suitable for that. I enjoy working out on cardio machines but right now I cannot afford a gym membership with the cost of my diet program. So I work out using my Wii Fit, Wii My Fitness Coach, and I walk in the evenings.
Any suggestions? I think I would enjoy it if there was one that would fit a walk or jog routine well.

They can all be adapted to walking and jogging. Many people walk with them when they first start with them, and I use them exclusively for walking/jogging on the treadmill.
If you have any more questions, check the FAQ at the CC website, or browse through the CC group at FitCysters.

Not sure that anybody reads this or will notice, but just in case, I wanted to post my latest update.
Still very happy with Medi. Worth every penny of investment so far. I am exercising regularly, eating fresh, healthy, normal food from the grocery store. I am down 41 pounds in 9 weeks.
Here's my 1st "before and after" pictures. I have a long way to go but I believe I'm starting to see a difference!
"Before", April 2009 at my heaviest & "After" so far.. down 41 pounds! Taken July 4th in a dress I bought in the MINUS (not PLUS!) dep't!
