adm- Yes, this is very much calorie controlled. This is not an "all you can eat-meat" plan like the old Atkins was. We have a prescribed number of protien calories per day so it's all about making healthy choices. If I eat a fatty steak, I will use up my calorie allotment for protien really fast. If I eat fish or lean chicken, I get a lot more food! On top of that, we have measured portions of veggies and fruits. Oils and fats are limited, but the diet does call for a couple of tbsp of olive oil or another healthy fat several times per week so that your gall bladder stays in shape Nuts are allowed too and those have some good fat.
Overall, it's been a really great "reset" of my eating habits and has allowed me to make some very educated choices about my food.

Just in case anyone reads this in the future I wanted to update. I am still on the plan and today I weighed in and am down 54 pounds since May 1st. Very happy with the plan and the results! I have been through illness, international travel, a death in the family, vacation, and just the general craziness of life and still stuck to the plan consistently and lost every single week. I started a Couch-to-5k running plan in addition to my Wii Fit and although it's kicking my butt, it feels really good.
When I started, I was filling out a 24W and now I'm fitting a regular 18 on the bottom/XL top, and some regular 16s. I have about 45-50 more pounds I'd like to lose.

Hi Jessica,
You look great in your picture! We don't have those centers up here in the DC area, but I did just start a physician monitored weight loss program also, sounds similar to what you are on. I started this in June 2009 and am down 30 lbs already (even with not following the plan for a week cause I was at a work conference staying at a hotel - not the best for dieting!)
Anyway - I'll take some after pictures eventually, want to see more of a difference. My mother saw me 4th of July and said she noticed a big difference after only following the program two weeks. I can't wait to see her at my cousin's wedding in September, I think she is going to be shocked at how much I have lost.
For me, the hardest thing is exercising, and I love it! But I work a full-time job, a part-time job, and I go to school for my Masters part time. So, its not that I don't enjoy exercising, cause I love the feeling, but I don't have any time... And if I am not working, I am sitting in traffic in the DC area! I don't think Kegel exercises while sitting in traffic is going to do much to burn calories, haha!!
LMc- That's great!!! Nice job on the weight loss I know there are other similar plans to this one that go by different names. It's very challenging but they do work, huh!
I find exercise to be a challenge too. I work from home as a teacher and take care of my 2 year old and 10 month old at the same time, so I have zero time to myself. The Wii works well for days when I really am pressed for time and then I try my best to get my Couch to 5k runs in 3 days per week. It's something you have to see as doing it for YOU, just like taking a soak in the tub or talking to a friend on the phone. I have always hated exercise but I'm working to see it as a positive thing, not something I dread. It helps some!
Once I reach my goal, I hope to join a gym where they have childcare. For now, we cannot afford that additional expense. But there's lots you can do from home and just 30 minutes will be a start!
If you haven't started using it already, www.livestrong.com has an awesome feature called Daily Plate where you can enter you food every day and it keeps a tally for you. I LOVE it because they have tons of restaurants (we eat out WAY too much, even now!) and major brands of foods, so it's easy to look up info on the go. It's free too
Nice to hear from you!! Be sure to share as you progress!

Great family pictures! You all look great but you are looking amazing. Congrats on the 60lbs. I am down 40ish lbs now and just started with a personal trainer. Good luck on the rest of your journey!
