Default Medicaid In NYC, Need a DOC NOT a Clinic

I have Medicaid like I said and i am looking for a Doctor. Hopefully the Doctor knows something about PCOS, but that is a wish. It can be anywhere in the five boroughs. I am willing to travel. Currently my insurance is non-HMO, but that will soon change and I'm looking for help before then.

I am currently stuck with going to clinics. These are terrible dirty places, the Docs don't know/don't care much and dismiss too easily. They never have my chart and always lose test results. It takes the whole day because you have to wait so long.

Batgirl - here in Birmingham, Alabama, I started out at the county clinic, but they gave me a list of hospital private docs that take medicaid. Can you go to the clinic one last time and ask to speak to a social worker? They should be able to help you with a list...I hope this helps!

Sorry, but it works differently here in NY. The referal service only refers you to the clinic and that is what the social workers use.

P.S. I can't believe that the social worker would refer you to a place outside of their own hospital. Actions like that wouldn't be tolerated here.

batgirl, have you checked into your Medicaid covered out-of-state. You might be able to travel to CT or NJ and see an actual doctor -- assuming they take NY Medicaid. Otherwise, you can get waivers -- call your main Medicaid office. Don't give up.

Hope this helps.
