I think I heard, someone say that because we take Metformin, we all should
have one of those Medical I D bracelet or necklaces. Is this True ??
Any Dr's or Nurses out there know the answer ??? It should say something
like Non-Diabetic Metformin. Is this true ???

Gonna try Met one more time
I just programmed my meds/dosages into the In Case of Emergency section of my cell phone. The list goes: 1.) Mom, 2.) Dad, 3.) Best Friend 4.) Note
Choosing option 4 takes you to a little text file about what I'm on. Very useful, the new phone features.

It was more that I don't feel PCOS alone required more. My best friend has a clotting disorder and is on coumadin, so she HAS to wear one. She hates it. There was no way I was going to wear one when my condition isn't particularly life-threatening---the phone note is good enough for me.
However, for some of you ladies with more complicated situations, here's where she got hers from, and it's really pretty: ID Alerts

I know before my surgery, I was required to stop Met 48 hours prior. I also had a PeT Scan that I had to stop taking it. It had something to do with the interactions of other certain drugs or dyes causing major complications. Having it in a Med ID Bracelet would at least offer a warning to Medical Personnel that you most likely have it in your system if you are ever in an emergency situation.

That's what I've been told as well...because think about it, if you're unconscious and no one is around to tell medical personnel what you're taking (say if you're in a bad car accident and you get rushed to the hospital and are treated before family can arrive to advise them of what medications you're taking), how are they going to know that you're on something that could potentially interact or react with something they will give you or do to you? Not worth the risk in my opinion. I don't wear an ID bracelet, but it is on an emergency contact card that I always carry with me.

Treatment: Started Metformin and Yaz the BC Pill
TTC since August 2004
Stopped TTC May 2008, trying to regulate hormones and lose weight before trying again.
I really want to have a baby before the end of 2010. This means I need to lose alot of weight and get my PCOS under control.
I should have a card in my wallet- I'll probably make a few one of these days and laminate them to keep in my wallet and purses. If you're on any medication at all, you should probably have something on your person to that effect just in case you get hit by a bus or something. But I don't think a bracelet is necessary when there's nothing vitally wrong with you in the first place, or the medication isn't something that interacts with everything (antidepressant? No so necessary. MAOI's? Have it tattooed on your forehead. )
Edit: You can get necklaces/charms/bracelets that say 'check my wallet' (or something to that effect), which is a nice medium if you're concerned, or have more problems than can fit on something.
what f you got seperated from your purse ... like it was in the car and you in the hospital .... I will keep an eye on this thread it's interesting ...
do you think having asthma calls for a bacelet?

Diagnosis's: Asthma Insulin Resistance
Medicines: Proventil HFA (1 puff every four hours as neeed for shortness of breath), Advair (250/50 2 times a day), Metformin (1 500mg pill daily)
I have a card case that I keep on my person at all times- health card, driver's license, bank card, cash- I'd keep it in that. I literally don't go anywhere without it, and it's always in my pocket never a purse. It's good enough for me.
And I'd say that depends how severe your asthma is and what your triggers are.
