Default Medication (other than the pill)

Hi All,

I need some advice please. I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. Due to my age they put me on the pill straight away, which I stayed on.

For the past two years I have kept taking myself off the pill ( I had 2 "natural" periods) and gone back to the doctors and asked for other treatment beside the pill and every doctor has said to wait until I am ready to concieve and put me straight back on the pill. I just want to get off the pill, i have had side effects from all the pills i have been on, some really bad (i blew up like a balloon from all the fluid retention and my bra size increased 2 cups) and some not so severe.

I have a couple of questions.

Are there any medications i can take instead of the pill? And are there long term side effects of the pill? I worry because my ovaries are so fragile anyway.

Thanks

Zoe
