Default medication question

I have a new, highly-recommended endo who wants to switch my meds around. While I trust her, I want advice from my cysters.

I've been taking Yasmin BCP for 1 year and 100mg of spironolactone for about 2 years now to regulate my cycles, calm down my ovaries, lessen excess hair growth, and stop hair loss on my head. I'm not trying to TTC at this time, and need to stay on the Pill for birth control.

My new doc put me on Gluc XR a few months ago, but I had a lot of trouble with the combination of Yasmin, spiro, and Gluc (not GI stuff, but horrible cramping, spotting, and ovary pain). I have since stopped the Gluc. Now, my doc says that the spiro might have been the problem, and she wants me to take Yasmin and Gluc, and stop the spiro.

Does anyone know about improvements in head hair loss and excess body hair with Gluc XR and BCP? I'm nervous about giving up on spiro, but my doc seems to think that Gluc would be beneficial.

Sorry this is so long! I'm eagerly waiting for your responses.

Did you get your insulin levels tested is that why Gluc is being recommended?

No offense but it kinds of sounds like an experiment. Which is often the case with meds - dr.'s have to see what works for different people.

Why did you want to change from the original Yasmin + spiro? Were they not effective enough?

Mixed results of studies, some indicate weight loss occurs in many which causes dramatic improvements in PCOS symptoms(although I didn't experience it), most just indicate that stimulates ovulation (but you are on the BCP) but not much help in any of the actual symptoms of PCOS.
I would give it go if you are overwright and are IR on a GTT.
