If you have a moment, I would love to hear your answers to these few questions:
1. Which medications, if any, do you take specifically for your PCOS-related symptoms? I take Aldactone 150mg/day and Yasmin BCP
2. Have the medications you take improved your symptoms to the degree you hoped? I have seen definite results with Aldactone and Yasmin, but of course I hoped that it would make me never grow another hair on my chin or other places I don't want it, but that didn't happen
3. Have you had success with improving your excess hair and/or hair loss? If so, what has worked? For me, a combination of my medications and electrolysis has made my excess hair issue much more tolerable. It's much better, my hair is lighter and finer, and I don't think I'm growing any NEW hairs.
4. Do you intened to take your medications indefinitely, or will you try to go off of them eventually? I have been so traumatized by suddenly beginning to grow hairs in places I never did before, that I do not forsee myself stopping the medication any time in the near future.
1. Which medications, if any, do you take specifically for your PCOS-related symptoms?
Aldactone 50mg and I hate the damn tablet I hate the taste of it, I was on 200mg but stopped taking it. had to go back on it though cardiac wise as I was getting really bad ankle swelling.. I take metformin for diabetes along with insulin. High cholesterol I take Zocor 40mg, and cardiac/hypertension drugs I take are Diltiazem 300mg, Nicorandil 40mg, Bisoprolol 5mg and Aspirin 75mg, plus a whole load of other meds
2. Have the medications you take improved your symptoms to the degree you hoped? Not really even on 200mg of Aldactone I could still grow a full beard, I have the odd small bare patch but I find its only the very fine fine fine hairs that lessened, not that the hair bothers me, metformin i am losing weight on
3. Have you had success with improving your excess hair and/or hair loss? If so, what has worked? I have actually grown new fine hair on the above meds...
4. Do you intened to take your medications indefinitely, or will you try to go off of them eventually? Will take them indefinitely not because I want the hair growth to stop but for my cardiac problems
Don't know if any of this helps as I am not your typical pcos cyster...

1. Which medications, if any, do you take specifically for your PCOS-related symptoms? I take Metformin 500mg twice daily and will bump it up to 1000mg twice daily in another week. I also take Methyldopa for high blood pressure.
2. Have the medications you take improved your symptoms to the degree you hoped? I have not been on Met long enough to know the extent to which it will help my symptoms. I definitely hope that it will help greatly with the Hirsutism!!! I also hope that it will regulate my periods and help me to get pregnant.
3. Have you had success with improving your excess hair and/or hair loss? If so, what has worked? I have not found anything that has worked well so far!
4. Do you intened to take your medications indefinitely, or will you try to go off of them eventually? I plan to take my medications indefinitely. I hope to lose some weight which will hopefully help some of my symptoms, but I know that I will probably always have problems with PCOS symptoms.
1. Which medications, if any, do you take specifically for your PCOS-related symptoms? Metformin, Flutamide, Spironolactone,Inositol, B-Complex, Biotin and Zinc
2. Have the medications you take improved your symptoms to the degree you hoped? No, but I have recently added the Flutamide,Inositol, Biotin and Zinc. I am hopeful
3. Have you had success with improving your excess hair and/or hair loss? If so, what has worked? Not yet, but the Metformin lowered my Testosterone levels quickly and I began having regular menstrual cycles for the first time in my life
4. Do you intend to take your medications indefinitely, or will you try to go off of them eventually? I have tried to treat PCOS with Lifestyle change alone. Some of us Need medication . So as long as they are helping my symptoms I see no reason to go off of them.

1. Which medications, if any, do you take specifically for your PCOS-related symptoms? BCP (Estelle), Vitamin B
2. Have the medications you take improved your symptoms to the degree you hoped? BCP hasn't really done much in terms of physical symptom appearance, though my bloodwork shows taking them for a year has decreased my free testosterone levels by almost 50% (bound testosterone was still on the up last time I checked...). Periods have always been regular and still are regardless of whether I'm on the BCP or not.
3. Have you had success with improving your excess hair and/or hair loss? If so, what has worked? Since taking Vitamin B on a regular basis I've been finding the excess weight is coming off a bit easier and the hirsutism growth has slowed down a bit/seems to be finer...or I could just be imagining things. Also since my weight's been getting down, hair seems to be growing back in at my temples where it was thinning a bit previously - looks odd cos I have these short fringe-like bits on either side now :s
4. Do you intened to take your medications indefinitely, or will you try to go off of them eventually? Vitamin B I should be fine with - obviously shall go off the BCP if I ever end up TTC. Still awaiting endo appointment to find if I need any 'proper' medication - i.e. flutamide etc., but from the last appointment, she didn't seem to think it was necessary as long as the weight keeps going down
