Medications I am thankful that I've managed to get off most of my medications! I've been on the birth control pill since 2003, but I've switched from Yasmin to Yaz (lower dose, same med). I'm no longer on Metformin, and I've gotten off all but one antihistamine. I don't have to take any prednisone right now, which is GREAT. I also don't have to take any meds for my ulcerative colitis because it's in remission.
At my worst, every day I was taking 12 tablets of Asacol (for the colitis), two tablets of Allegra, some dose of pred, two tablets of 500 mg met, Benadryl, one tablet Zyrtec, and my bc pill. It was awful.
Now, it's just two pills, nothing more. I switched from Yasmin to Yaz because I'm hoping that a lower dose of estradiol will decrease my chronic inflammation. I'm also trying to decrease my inflammation by getting in shape by going running. Then, I'd be able to get off the Zyrtec as well.
But all in all, I'm thankful that I've been able to be healthy enough to get off so many meds. I know that many women here struggle with the number of meds they have to take. Just know that you CAN get off of them. It's hard, but you CAN do it.
