Question medicine and hormone levels

I have also been diagnosed with PCO, when I went to my Gyn, I asked for a ultrasound because I had heard of this condition and he saw right away that I had polycystic ovaries. I asked because I was not getting my period for half a year sometimes and very irregularly. He suggested not to worry about it since I am not trying to conceive yet. But I am worried sometimes. He didn't want to check my hormone levels. Should I let that be tested? Should I get medication or is it only necessary if you are trying to conceive.
Thanx
Naomi

Thanks for your information. I think I will go see a doctor to find out about my hormone levels anyway. You asked me whether I had other symptoms, I have acne and thin hair, but no bold spots. I am not overweight. But I have been on the pill for 10 years. So I am discovering everything for the first time. With a lot of things I am wondering whether it is associated with PCO, maybe it is just in my head. But I think you are right, I should know what is wrong exactly. Thanks

Another point.......

my Doctor told me.. untreated I would likely be unable to conceive eventually.....

so even if your not trying to conceive (ttc) right now.. if you think you'd like to be in the future.. even yrs down the road.. consider getting your hormones balanced now, rather then waiting.
