I've known for awhile something was wrong with me-- just finally got diagnosed. Anyways-- I am just wondering what your thoughts are in regards to getting pregnant. Do I do nothing (medicinally) and let God's will happen in my life or do I take measures (other medications and procedures) in order to become pregnant? I'm not TTC now, but will be within the next year. Thanks for you thoughts! |

DH and I decided not to go the fertility treament route. If we had been unable to have children without treatment, we would have adopted. I think when you are talking IVF and frozen embies things can get problematic. Many ladies have donated to Snowflakes so others can use those embies to become parents. I think using Metformin or another drug to stimulate ovulation is just helping the body along, more along the lines of using diabetes drugs to regulate blood sugar. It's just putting the body in a "normal" state. If you presonally feel uncomfortalbe using any given fertility treatment, know there are women who after years of TTC, have become pregnant without treatment (many past age 25).
The first steps to TTC are usually:
1. Eating healthy (lower carb can possibly help ovulation)
2. Avoiding unecessary medications (I stopped OTC pain meds)
3. Giving up caffeine and smoking
4. Working out or putting more active things into your day
Many ladies have become pregnant after putting into action just the above four items. Be sure to check out the TTC and Pregnancy and Mommy boards for more info on progesterone, Metformin and IC and bringing down the rate of misscarriages

I don't object to Metformin or Clomid. Because like you said, they help the body along. If those don't work, I think that we will foster or adopt. There are many children out there that need a loving home. I think IVF can get very expensive and can be very taxing on a relationship (from what I've heard...) I'm also new to PCOS... so this Metformin might do the trick (fingers crossed) |

Some couples never do and I think that really puts a burden on the marriage. Hope all goes well when you do decide to TTC! There is an adoption board on SC. If you have any questions, feel free to drop by and ask

I have issues with doing IVF, too, but there's much more than just met or clomid that can help you... femara, for example, trigger shots, various herbs... there's a lot of stuff out there and many options other than IVF.
