I'm wondering has anyone else here had any success with using meditation for managing some of their pcos symptoms?

I haven't done any meditation in a while (and I know I should), but I did read about it in relation to PH balance. Stress can cause an acidic body, which contributes to your body using it's alkalizing minerals to get used up balancing your blood PH instead of going to where it should go - alkalize/balance cellular function, which can increase insulin resistance.

I don't know if you remember but my GP tried to put me on a alkalinising diet a while back (which, incidently I found almost impossible to do...). I'm very pleased to hear that meditation can potentially do the same thing (not to say I don't eat well, just not THAT well, iykwim...).

Sorry, I don't remember - but I do remember you giving me some great info about the progesterone cream!!
It is a tough diet to do. I think the only thing that got me motivated is pain (joints). Though I'm not perfect all the time!!
The most important things I've read are getting rid of the soda - diet or sugar. The phosphorus is a killer. When I heard it took 32 glasses of water to rebalance PH after one glass of soda, that did it for me. I miss just the one glass I was drinking horribly though!! The diet soda actually curbed my sugar cravings. And adding lots of green leafy vegs & fruits go a long way. Even when I go off the diet, I make sure to get them in every day. It's important to build up your mineral stores & to get organic sodium. Supplements just weren't cutting it for me. I still ended up with vit/mineral deficiencies.
Best of luck to you!!

After explaining my history and health to her, she highly recommended meditation. I have never done it, and given my high-strung personality, I think it's definitely called for. I'll report back with my experience.

Do report back on how it went! | I use to be high strung too. I did learn how to control my breathing to lower heart rate, and get rid of those adrenaline rushes. Nothing formal, just being very conscious of when I was feeling anxious. There's a great meditation CD called "Releasing Fear & Resentment" by John Daniels. Even if you don't have any fear/resentment, it's a flexible meditation (it guides you through your own negative thoughts & brings you to your own positive meditation). I highly recommend it. I've fallen asleep during it, which just doesn't normally happen with me. They sell it at bestbuy.com and probably amazon. Qi gong is great too. Form of meditation/Tai chi & chinese medicine at the same time. They sell DVD's for instruction. I have John P. Milton's "Cleanse & Build Inner Qi". It also helps in relieving stress/anxiety.
