I was just wondering if anyone else here does meditation or visualizations to help with depression?
I've just recently started meditating (well, basically just trying to empty my mind) and I find it helps a bit. I don't think I've been doing it often enough to really help though.
If you do, what do you do and how often? For how long?
I really want to find ways to get through my depression without meds. I'm staying on for now...but I would really like to get off Wellbutrin sometime during this year.

i have recently started meditating but i do it for stress relief and take meds for depression. but stress can lead to depression and meditation allows you to sit for awhile and relax! it definitely can't hurt!
I think I read in another post that you do Zen meditation, right? What does that consist of? I basically just sit and try to empty my mind...think of nothing. Sometimes I use crystals/stones as my focal point.
i recommend the book called "a path with heart" it goes thru some basic meditation techniques and mantras and visualizations. i really like the author's style of writing and it is a book that has a lot of good philosophies.
Well, first thing you need to be comfie, wear sweatpants or something. Then, sit down on the floor with a pillow under your butt or in a chair with good posture. close your eyes, repeat a mantra to yourself if you want, and just breath in and out and try not to move or let your thoughts drift.
