Hi there. Yes it is generic for Provera. I've just taken 10mg for 10 days. The only side effects I had were dizziness and nausea, but it seems like there are a lot of comments here from people with bad PMS type symptoms while taking it, cramps, swelling, mood swings etc. I was afraid to take it, too, but I decided to try it once and see how it went. Also the doctor is using it as a test they call the "progesterone challenge" or "Provera challenge" to check for premature ovarian failure. So maybe if my ovaries don't work right, that could be why I'm not getting the bad symptoms...maybe AF isn't coming who knows.
If you're very nervous, you might consider asking your doctor for a natural progesterone like prometrium instead. Many women say they are better with that.
