Meds and "drive"

I am taking Metformin and Mircette. I am on my 3rd month of the bcp and my 4th month of Met. Unfortunately the old libido has flown out the window. Does this get any better? Is there anything I can do to get back to the way I was? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated by both me and my DH

Sadly, the one great thing about having extra testosterone is that you have a great 'drive'. Kind of sad that you get that along with being fat and hairy. BCPs work in two ways IMHO. They keep you from ovulating, and they also keep you from inseminating as much. <sigh>

I have been doing a lot of research about this lately because I have been thinking of switching BCPs. Your testosterone levels vary according to the levels of hormones in your pills. It is very confusing because it depends upon the level of progesterone in your pills, and the ratio of it to the estrogen, and to make it more confusing, the different synthetic progesterones have different efficacy rates, so you can't just compare the numbers!!! I would tell your doctor because you might be on a pill that supresses testosterone a lot. Sorry if that was confusing, but I am confused too. I just had my labs done a few weeks ago, and my testosterone was BELOW normal limits!(that expalins alot) I am going to talk to my doctor about it at my next appointment. Take care--Lisa

Sadly, most PCOSers are searching for a pill that can do exactly that. It helps with acne, weight gain, male pattern hair growth/loss, ect. Just wish the drive didn't have to go with it!
