Question Meds help

Hello. I was diagnosed with PCO last year and not really told much by my doc. I was OK with that, thanks to this site and some others I educated myself and got on with things. Found BRILLIANT skin care system (Rodan and Fields PROACTIV solution) that gets rid of acne, periods appear once every five to six weeks...I will get to the point in a minute...
However, I have really noticed a problem keeping my weight down, gone up a dress size over the past nine months or so, despite working out 5-6 days a week and also starting with a personal trainer once a week. Not changed my diet, as already found low carb but starting to doubt if it is working any more!
Anyway, finally my PMS symptoms, most prominently sore breasts, drove me to the docs office today, last week I drove over a speed hump and IT HURT MY BOOBS! That is not normal.
Anyway, doc not sure what best course of action so is looking up the options for me but mentioned both Yasmin and Metformin, but after looking them up on the net they both have such horrendous side effects I am not sure if it is worth trading sore boobs and some flab for acne and diarreoha!
Any advice on these meds before he calls me would be v. appreciated.

Many experts in PCOS seem to individualize treatment based on the goals of the patient. In other words are you trying to get pregnant, keep from getting pregnant, want to regulate your periods, clear skin, get rid of hair, etc, etc. Once you identify your main concerns thay can tailor your treatment.

The best place to start is lab work to check for insulin and glucose issues. This could contribute to the weight gain. Also, talk with your doctor about your concerns with side effects. Some meds. may not affect you the same as others. There are many ways to treat this and only one you. Find a good doctor who will assist you in meeting your goals.
