Default Melbourne metformin friendly docs

I have just found out that i am pregnant, and my gp and ob/gyn want me to stop taking metformin. I am so scared i will lose my baby. Does anyone know of any docs in melbourne that reccomend taking metformin while prenant? I could go against docs orders as i have 5 prescriptions for met, but i just dont know what to do! I dont want to m/c. Any advice?
Thanks

I was taking Met whilst preggers and was told to stop at 12 weeks. I stopped and everything was O.K. with me.

Good Luck!

Thanx. I have decided to listen to the doctors and have stopped taking metformin. Afterall they only want whats best for me and the baby. I figure, if its meant to be, everything will be fine, and i feel it is.

First ultra sound on tues - hubby and i cant wait!

I stayed on Met against my doctors wishes until 16 weeks. His argument was that there wasnt enough researh done to support the met not harming the baby. I had a m/c in December 03.

So he sent me to Gyno to discuss it and he also advised against it. I told him my reasons and he respected them. ANd he also prescribed Asprin which I stayed on until 12 weeks.

Its up to you essentialy and it looks liek you have made your choice. Just thought I'd give you a lookie at what I did.
