Has anyone noticed that men with no body hair, or very little, seem to have full heads of hair, while hairy men seem to lose their hair? Is this in my imagination? I've been paying attention to this alot lately. Two men I work with have full heads of hair and are 50 years old. They have virtually no hair on their hands, arms, or fingers. I have darker hair on my arms, hands and fingers than they do and have less hair on my head than them too! I just don't understand how I can be a woman with "normal" hormone levels and have more apparent testosterone-driven hair growth/loss than a man! Makes me wonder if everyone with excess hair growth/dark hair on their upper extremities and abdomen, etc., is doomed to lose the hair on their head whether they are a man or a woman. Anyone else notice this? Surely men have way more testosterone than us. Is this all just testosterone sensitivity? Any theories?
I never thought about it before, but my dad is hairy, and bald, while my dh is hairless (he CAN'T grow a mustach or beard!) and he has a full head! Although my brother is pretty hairless, but also bald. Go fig...??? Who knows...a good thought, though!
I think there is a correlation between body hair and baldness... I read about it once. Let me see if I can find the article....
My dh has minimal body hair and a full head of hair... a friend of mine who kiddingly calls himself the "missing link" because he has so much hair on his body (he has a "hair shirt" that covers his whole chest, stomache and back)... well, he is as bald as a cue ball...

My DH is Asian, so that might make a difference, but he has a receding hairline (like a few inches) and an almost bald spot on the back, but he really doesn't have a lot of body hair. Very little on his arms and hands, very very little on his chest and back, and belly is slightly hairy, legs are slightly hairy. So to put it in a nutshell, balding on top (but he shaves it so it's very sexy LOL) and not much body hair.

My dh has a hard time with the fact that he hasn't got much body hair. I tell him he is so lucky to have me to grow enough for both of us. Hee hee. He is also having a huge bald spot on the top of his head though.

Hi there! I noticed that too. I have many male friends with no hair on their body and with a lot of hair on their head and i must admit that i hate them! But there is another weird aspect that i dont understand. I have seen men with a lot of hair on their body so with a lot of testosterone and with a lot of hair on their head too.So it doesnt make sense:if they have a high level of testosterone how come they are not loosing their hair from the head? a doctor told me once that the hair on the head doesnt depend so much on the testosterone...i really dont know what to believe
What you see is all a result of hormones and people's sensitivities to it in particular bodily regions.
If you read the first thread at the top of the page, it should make sense to you when looking at hairy guys/non-hairy guys
"The answer is that some people have hair follicles which are extremely sensitive to testosterone. Think about body hair on men. Some have a little and others have a lot even though their testosterone levels are similar.
In women the situation is the same; whatever their testosterone levels, those with more sensitive follicles have more hair. Hair follicle sensitivity to testosterone is the single most important factor in increased hair growth. As I will discuss below, hair follicle sensitivity is highly treatable.
Some women have the opposite situation: hair follicles which are insensitive to testosterone and so have hardly any body hair. This is usual in Asians but is uncommon in whites or blacks."
Now you come to mention it yes! When I think back to men I have seen (not many) that does seem to be the case. How strange.
