my brother is 25, obese (>300 lbs) and balding. i am very concerned about him and am wondering if i should speak to him about getting evaluated. any thoughts?

As with PCOS, the symptoms are treated. Male equivalent of polycystic ovary syndrome? Article Excerpt: IS THERE A MALE PCOS? http://www.soulcysters.net/male-rela...highlight=male

Male PCOS can be very devastating. My DH and his brother both have health problems I think are male PCOS. Both have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and sugar cravings. DH has high cholesterol and blood pressure. |

My Mood: Points: 13,735.08 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 13,735.08 | No one in my family has EVER been overweight excpet me and only in the last few years (Previous to that tall and thin and I am 33).
My twin brother is tall and thin - but like his maternal grandfather and maternal uncle started hair thinnning in early 20's, not totally bald but much thinnner. he had very thick nice dark blond hair once.. I am thinnning too due to PcOS and higher free testosterone levels which has stressed me GREATLY, since the last 5 or so years and I have lost I'd say 50% of my once thick hair.
My twin also had great skin all through teen age years I was the one to have a few peoples (not badly or anything ) but he had great skin then suddenly at 25 or something he got this cystic acne like really bad along hair line and forhead.....he had to go on Roaccutane.. to fix it and he doesn't get it anymore...
I am wondering if his balding and the sudden acne in mid 20's means he has the PCOS gene but he has Never had any weight problems as I said tall and thin like my dad. My mother is thin but if she gains any goes to her waist...
She nearly had gestational diabetes when we were born (twins at 6 month) but never diagnosed with PCOS.... but in her time they didn't know about it and no ultrasounds....she never got the hair loss (she has hair like Jane Fonda, thick as blond) and to be honest never really got the hirsutism like me till she was heading to menopause... |

My Mood: Points: 3,148.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,148.98 | My both brothers and my father were bald before 30 and my father and one brother is really chubby.
On my grandmother on my fathers side there is a lot of diabetes type I 6 of 9 siblings. That grand mother had really thin hair she was almost bald.
My other grandmother was big, male body fat, all her life until she got diabetes typ II and started to eat like diabetes patient should. Sounds a bit like PCOS. I look just like her body wise.
I also read about this connection between early balding and PCOS. Has to do with testosterone as well as I understand.
In Sweden for some reason we have a lot of diabetes and thyroid problems more than other countries.
