I manage just fine with the right tinkering. I've thought about ordering maybe the mooncup or ladycup to see if it works better for me, but all in all there is really no need.

My Mood: Points: 9,336.48 Bank: 303,350.20 Total Points: 312,686.68 | Here is a question for you girls with Really heavy periods!
Here is how my periods normally are.
Days 1-3 HEAVY
Day 4 - Medium
Day 5 - Light, but the Occasional "leftover"
Day 6 & 7 Light
When i say HEAVY I mean changing pads like every 1.5 hours/2hours.
Anyone else like this that can give me insight on how often I should "empty" the Cup!
Ohh by the way, my hubby got this in the mail for me, I told him to expect it, but if you all could have seen the look on his face! Priceless! He had alot of questions about it, which is awesome. That when it comes time for me to use it, hell understand

If you're nervous, get some practice taking it out and putting it in and you can check more often, but it really does hold a lot...more than a pad or a tampon.

One thing to keep in mind is generally the uterus produces and sheds about 3 oz, of fluid per period. That is three Diva-cup-fulls if you fill'er up each time, which you won't, even after 12 hours. If you're paranoid, you can always empty it more often. When I first started using it I was emptying it every 2-3 hours like my tampon schedule, but it was totally un-necessry and I've learned to just let it go to twice a day.
Plus, like a tampon, you can almost kind of "feel" when it's full or getting there. Anyone else ever have this? (I've always wanted to ask someone!!?) I used to be able to tell when a tampon was about to leak, before it would even happen. I guess it's like a vaginal barometer, and it's sort of unconscious sensory input.

I can't really remember the tampons (I'm going on 5 years since I used one!) but with the Diva cup I can tell when it's full because that's the only time I actually feel it!

The longest was 12 hours, but all the times I took it out for a regular period, it was never half full. It takes adjustment, but I will never use tampons and pads again! |

My Mood: Points: 5,210.67 Bank: 9,008.30 Total Points: 14,218.97 | Have any of you ladies ever thought about using the menstrual cup for "other uses"? I suffer from recurring yeast infections, and really it's no wonder. I have this massive discharge problem and my underwear is constantly wet. I'm at the end of my rope and I just can't take it anymore. My husband thinks it's because I'm always turned on...I just don't have the heart to tell him the truth (being that I'm not turned on at all and it makes me feel so disgusting to the point where I'm actually turned right off). The thought of having to wear my cup everyday doesn't really appeal to me and it kinda would take spontaneous sex right out of the equation ("excuse me while I remove my girly juice catcher"), but anything seems better than what I'm dealing with at the moment. Thoughts? |

Points: 6,558.25 Bank: 733.58 Total Points: 7,291.83 | I don't see why not. However, I suppose if you actually do have an actual infection it could make it worse by holding the infected "girly juice" in rather than letting it rid itself from your vajayjay.
I had my first almost leak today. Day one of my cycle and cup is in. I'm at work and I get that wet feeling and rush to the bathroom before anything had the chance to really leak or make a mess, but sure enough my cup was off kilter in there and not fully suctioned to the sides and beginning to leak. It was a mess to clean up because some AF had squeezed out beside the rim. The reason for this oopser? (TMI!) I had to poop! You know when you can feel the lumpy poo through your vaginal wall? Well apparently the poo I had been holding in had dislodged my cup! LOL!!!

My Mood: Points: 1,253.68 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,253.68 | Ok, update.
First AF visit with my mooncup. It actually went pretty well. I was at the beach with my husband (married for 2 weeks now) and AF showed up -bless her, in the middle of our honey moon. Everything fine in the pool, the sea, al fresco meals by the sea, lovely.
The only awkward moment was the morning of after AF day 1 when the cup sort of moved out of place and I had to rush to the toilet to empty the cup before it was too late.
I think it does take a bit of tinkering and getting used to, but in the end it is so worth it.
Thanks so much Calmwaters, I think the mooncup might actually change my life!
