My Mood: Points: 31,536.36 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 31,536.36 | Ok, after reading this thread for a while, I decided to order one from drugstore.com. I was wondering though if anyone has also used Instead and how this compares? I tried Instead years ago and couldn't get comfortable with it. Just wondering if there is a difference?

My Mood: Points: 4,561.06 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,561.06 | There's a HUGE difference between the two. Instead sits low and could stay in during sex, from what I understand. The cup sits higher(?) and actually "seals" to stay in place. I much prefer the cup to Instead, but will use Instead in an emergency (traveling and didn't bring my cup).
I've been using mine for almost 10 years. I can't believe it! How do you know when it's time to retire it for a new one? It pretty much looks the same and still fits perfectly.

My Mood: Points: 4,561.06 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,561.06 | That's how I think of it, so I could very well be wrong. I guess because I feel the cup moving up when it's properly sealed I think of it as sitting "high," whereas the Instead just kinda goes back. Just my own weird way of thinking about it I guess.

They are so much better, cleaner, and cheaper. I love not having to even remember that I am on my period for 12 hours and not worry about it. It's got to be the best thing I have found in a long, long time. |

My Mood: Points: 17,017.29 Bank: 107,967.05 Total Points: 124,984.33 | Alright ladies....I've followed this thread for a while (beginning with part 1) and I finally caved on Saturday and ordered a DivaCup!
My AF's aren't all that long anymore, they've actually gotten a lot shorter lately! But I'm just fed up with pads and tampons. I had AF this past weekend & pulled out my tampon and there was barely anything on it and it had been in for a little while. I was horrified. Because it was still pretty dry it looked like the cotton had been "pulled on"...like a cotton ball would if you pulled or stretched it. I was left sitting there grossed out thinking about how many cotton fibers were now left in my body.
I also don't use pads. I HATE them and I've never really had to use them...tampons have always kept me under control as long as I change them regularly. Well...since that one tampon was pretty much dry I didn't put another one in--I thought I was done. HA. I leaked on our couch. I had a tampon in there for hours and NOTHING, I take it out and BAM.
I got so pissed & told DH I was spending $30 and stomped off to the computer to order my diva cup & the wash.
I hope I love it as much as you ladies do!! I'll probably have a bunch of questions once it gets here too! |

Instead just sits higher in vagina, and hopefully, you're constantly at the right angle or you'll leak, but you can wear it during sex. Also, I've seen that TTC'ers have used Instead cups to keep semen up next to the cervix a little longer after BD'ing to increase the chances.
Anyway, I am a very happy DivaCup user and never had a problem with it after the first day. I think it's kind of weird that all the people in the first thread pretty much loved it or figured out what works for them with it and loved it, and a lot of people in this thread don't seem to be as pleased.... Hmmm....

Hmmm.... | Actually, it really seemed to me that the first thread was mostly women who have tried it talking about how they liked it, and this thread is the women who were convinced to try it by the first thread. I didn't get the impression that a lot of people didn't like it--I got the impression that some people were having trouble using it and asking questions.
I was one of the women who were convinced to try it by the first thread, but you haven't heard from me because I didn't have any trouble with it. The only questions I had were easily answered by reading here or in one of the posted links.

Once it is in, spin it a bit. Pushing it up and then pulling it down once it has opened works for me, makes me feel it is in the right spot.
Good luck!
