I read online that a little water around the rim right before inserting can help too. If you're worried about KY lubricating it too much maybe try the little bit of water first. |

when my flow is scant, i don't even bother using the cup cause a pantiliner will do just fine. a freshly washed cup has always been easy to insert. i don't know if the cup will stay put if it's got lube on it.
hey has anyone's kegel muscles gone beserk if you're having a BM while wearing the cup? it's a strange sensation, and i worry about the cup slipping out of place.

I called the company that I bought it from and the woman told me to use the KY, but to put it on ME, not the cup. This makes it A LOT easier to insert. Don't know why it makes a difference where you put it, but it does.

So...this is actually the first time I've seen mentrual blood that's not been on a tampon or a pad. When I take out my Diva Cup is looks like the fluids in there are...seperated. Is that normal? Like...it seems like the blood part is on the bottom and there is a clearer watery looking substance on top of it. |

It's stringy like snot! Anyhoo, my blood does that too and I think it's serum and mucous seperating from the blood. THe same thing happens in a test tube of blood that is collected from your arm for a lab test (minus the mucous of course). The bood cells and the serum are two different components of whole blodd. At any rate, I would say this is normal.

My Mood: Points: 13,021.29 Bank: 46,998.50 Total Points: 60,019.79 | cemomster--Thank you!! I just knew it "was me" when I saw it in a bridal magazine & when I found a boutique near me that had it I was smitten & knew it would be mine!
Calmwaters, I think you just said everything I was thinking!! Much more mucousy than I thought.
One more question--I'm charting but I just started using the cup this past cycle. How do you, or how would you classify spotting when using the cup? Like...when I was still using tampons when AF was too light I wouldn't use anything but would still see a little when wiping & I consider that spotting. I guess...the same thing goes with the cup? When there isn't really anything collecting anymore stop inserting & see if spotting occurs? |

My Mood: Points: 309.08 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 309.08 | I bought a diva cup back about 2 years ago and got aggravated quickly and have not used it. Right now I am on Mirena and have not had AF since October 2007. I am getting my Mirena taken out on July 11. So I am thinking about attemping the cup again because I know AF will return. Does anyone have the problem of not being able to reach their diva cup well enough to adjust it. I am very round through my middle and have short arms. Without putting a foot up on the toilet I can't even get a tampon in. Therefore with the diva cup being shorter i had major issues trying to adjust it. Imagine a ummpa loompa standing on their head trying to reach their butt. Any advice? Thanks for the help. |

My Mood: Points: 16,763.88 Bank: 28,489.23 Total Points: 45,253.11 | ok so i got my cup just a few days ago, and I'm not quite getting the hang of it yet... I have a few questions:
1. How do I get it up in there far enough? It says in the instructions to put it in there no farther than the tail being 1/2 an inch deep, but to make sure it's not protruding. My problem is that the cup pops open and (i guess) creates a suction before it's all the way in, and once it's sucked on, i can't push it any deeper. At this point, the CUP itself is still protruding, not just the tail. I've found that if I just push it in as much as I can and then give it a couple of minutes, it just "works" itself into place... is this ok...Will it cause leaks? How do I get the cup to pop open when I have it in place, not just when it feels like it?
2. I can never get my cup to "rotate"... is this really necesary?
3. Is it safe to wash my cup with Summer's Eve Feminine Wash? It's unscented and everything... I didn't get the diva wash, but it says in the instructions that you can use unscented soap... so is the summer's eve safe to use?

It gets easier to do, and sometimes my muscles will push it down if I have to use the bathroom, but it will readjust. I have never pushed it out without breaking the suction on it.
Mine never rotates completely. It does not matter for me, since I can tell it is in place, and I've have had zero leaks in the months I've been using it.
I would think Summer's Eve should be okay since what I've read says just to use soap and water. Go to divacup.com and read what it says about washing. It says you can boil for a short time, but it's not necessary.
Good luck. I will never go back to using tampons/pads. It is so much easier and better for my body! |

I was in a restaurant, actually I went outside to my car to get my sweatshirt and felt that oh so uncomfortable.... plop. *TMI* clot dropped into the cup and it spilled everywhere. Broke the seal and everything. Nice. So I booked it to the bathroom and spent like a good ten minutes trying to clean up before I could go out and eat my meal. Thought I'd share with you all. My boyfriend asked where I'd been the whole time "My cup runneth over" he laughed.

My Mood: Points: 518.34 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 518.34 | I bought my cup at the beginning of the year and I've used it a bunch of times. It has definitely come in handy especially since I was volunteering at an elementary school and didn't have the time to go and check & change my pads. I could put it in when I woke up, go to class & volunteer without worrying about leaks or having blood stains on my clothes (I had to wear dark pants because I always leaked with pads, because they'd get all bunched up..even the wings..) and then when i would get home I would shower and empty, wash it with warm soap and water and reinsert.
It's alot better when living in the dorms. I don't have to contribute to the nasty bathroom mess that girls leave behind. I just clean it in the shower (i pour the mess down the drain, directly so it doesn't touch the floor..) and reinsert it in the shower..no problems..and noone says anything. I don't have a whole bag dedicated to pads & tampons and I can use my money I save on clothes or whatever else I need. |
