thanx so much...sorry I thought I had looked pretty thoroughly for any info on these. I hadn't thought of doing the search..funny how obvious things can be forgotten.. this website that came up (myvag.net) when I searched about the cups is so funny and informative though. Be warned though, some of it's a little graphic and/or just plain weird. I had the misfortune of looking at the cuisine section...blech.
most of teh cups i know of are a brand called Instead. They are sopoooo great! Messy when ya take them out but so worth it imho. i was a HEAVY bleeder and incollege I would be there from 8-8... so... instead cups allowed me to keep the same thing in all day... just afterwards taking it out all the blood gushes out. But they were a lifesaver. I used them for about a year and a half. Soem gals use them after they have sex to help keep the spermies in to try and get preggers. If you have any questions regarding them, I should be able to answer them

I purchased the Instead cups (you can find them at Wal-Mart). However, I couldn't actually get it to go in. It's more of a one size fits all (that would be the only one size fits all that's too big LOL. Maybe I was just doing it wrong. :o
There are some out there that you can order in different sizes. The women I have spoken to on here usually have liked them.

I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here
Go out on a ledge, without any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah, I wanna be running
When the sand runs out

I switched to the reusable menstrual cup "Diva Cup" at the beginning of the year and I will never go back. I absolutely love it. Never had a problem with it. One of the benefits I like is that if I am expecting my period, I can put it in early so that I don't even get any spotting or anything. And it is a lot more comfortable than tampons on those light days.

I tried the disposable ones once when I was going to a wedding and hated them. I actually had to leave the wedding to go to a store to get tampons. I was miserably uncomfortable after first putting it on (I followed directions and tried more than once) by the point I left the wedding i was in pain. Also the mess alone was enough to deter me. I rarely ever get a period these days but when I do I stick to tampons.

Before posting this thread I wasn't even aware that there were disposable AND reusable kinds. (I assumed they were all reusable) I guess I would be more interested in the reusable. I thought the whole point was to be more economical anyways. I think I've got enough positive feedback to go try them out now...well as soon as AF visits me. Although Tara, you kind of scared me with the whole "blood gushes out" comment. The mooncup website (www.mooncup.co.uk) has a picture. It has a little...I dunno...an inch or so long tube looking thing on what I assume is the bottom...what is that? Also all these websites the mention emptying the cups...one reviewer on a website said she could do it utilizing her vaginal muscles? Is that even possible? About difficulties from...being smallish (downtown) Are all the brands you've seen one size fits all? LOL besides the Instead cups, that is. Is there a way your gyno can size you, like with a diaphragm? Thanks for all your help, guys!
i looked up the mooncips. they seem to have a stem. i am assuming you pull the stem to ge tteh cup out. the instead cups dont have this. they are a flexible plastic ring covered with latex.. kind like a giant short condom. to take them out, you have to reach in and grab a corner and kindly pinch it out.... here is where it gushes. so the m ooncup sounds better in that aspect.
it does sound good though.. looks quite different then the insteads but worth a shot.

I love the idea of them, but a little worried to try!

I haven't ever had mine get stuck. It has a little "stem" at the end, and you grab that while pushing down (like for a BM) and it comes out. Also, you want to push the sides together at the bottom to break the suction.
My Diva Cup came with instructions, illustrations, and the web site was really helpfull too.
You could always call the companies and ask them questions. I'm sure that they have heard it all before.

Thanks for the link Baygirl. I'm probably going to have an eye out for the 'stemless' cups now. Although the stemmed cups did sound like they were easier to remove, they look like they might be a little uncomfortable to me...the extra appendage just freaks me out a little. lol Depending on the price range, I might get like two or three different kinds and give em a go to see which I like or if I don't even like them at all...I took my last Provera 2 days ago and I've been cramping really bad but no AF so far. I hope I get it by tomorrow so I can start my BCP's on Sunday. I really don't want to wait another week or more!
