Hi, I have had something profoundly change my life. I suffer from chronic manic depression and recently on another board they were doing a Vitamin D study supplementing using Fish Oil with high EPA and DHA levels to help cure seasonal affective disorder. Since I was deep in the pit of despair, I figured it couldn't hurt to try it. So I started off taking Cod Liver Oil because it contains both vitamin D and vitamin A which are both great for the body, but I never noticed any changes...I had purchased the oil at Walgreens. After using up the Walgreen's brand, I decided to purchase a brand at the health store. I purchased Twintab orange flavored and took 1 T. as usual. Within 1/2 hour I was watching television and my vision cleared up. Then my I noticed that my thoughts were somewhat clearer. Several days later I thought about it and started taking 2 T., suddenly my thoughts were clearer and I had a strange peacefulness that I have not experienced in six years!
Now, I know this sounds nuts but after some research, I found this info...
In these articles omega three oils have been used to cure many mental illnesses... I hope that this will help... Remember, however, that the brand and the DHA TO EHA levels are most important! Some of these individuals have been able to totally get off their medications....

Does the liquid kind help better than the capsules? I take a high quality salmon oil capsule. I'm supposed to take 2 per day but usually I only remember to take it once.

Yes...I am feeling much, much better... Thinking clearer, more energy, depression is less.... I take the oil because I think that the oil is more effective than pills...especially given the info in the news these days about supplements... If you choose to use pills, make sure they are pharmaceutical grade...with high DHA and EPA levels...that is the key!!!

I got some new fish oil capsules at the health food store today. From reading articles Skeeweeaka posted, it appears that high EPA is what is important. I couldn't find any liquid EPA, so I got capsules - Country Life Omega 3 Mood with 500 mg EPA and 75 mg DHA per capsule. I was a bit concerned about the amount of vitamin A in the Twinlab cod liver oil since Vitamin A can be toxic in large doses. I hope the EPA clears my mind up. I am in la la land.
