Is anyone here taking Mercilon?? Does it do any good for you? I am wondering if Mercilon is the same as Desogen.

Hello

I took Mercilon for about 3 months. It made my blood pressure go really high, and I felt sick all the time. Then I stopped it, and tried it years later and had the same effect.

Sorry to be so negative, but this is what happened to me, and we're all different - probably some other cyster would be fine on it. Dunno.

Hi Eva....I took Desogen before. I am not sure if Mercilon is the same....all I know is the hormones contain in Mercilon is the same but maybe the dosage is different. When I was on Desogen (in US) it's all fine for me. I was taking Metformin too but I had this problem with my blood sugar. It was high (I was taking 1000mg a day) and I reduced it to 500mg now. It gets a bit too low but it's all fine now. Anyway thanks for your reply. I hope Mercilon won't make me feel too sick. Did it make you feel nauseated and headaches??

Hi Monica, mercilon has the same ingredients as desogen, but slightly different dosage. They both have the same amount of progesterone (desogestrel), but desogen has 30 mcg of estrogen while mercilon has 20 mcg of estrogen. Mercilon is the same as the US pill called mircette.

The pill that is exactly the same as desogen is called marvelon.
