I posted this in another thread about a week ago:-

I was prescribed this drug, it's called reductil in the UK, and within the 4 weeks I was taking it my blood pressure went sky high, my pulse rate doubled and I've developed palpitations.

I've been off it now for almost 2 months and they're still alot higher than they were and still having palpitations.

Blood pressure is now pretty much back to normal, pulse rate still worryingly high. I have also put all the weight back on (i'd lost about 9 pounds in those 4 weeks) although eating healthily with the right sized portions and going to the gym. I am so p'o'ed. My dr now thinks the palpitations could be something to do with my thyroid but that's a different matter.

If I were offered something like that again I would have to refuse the prescription, my health has suffered further as a result of taking that pill. Having said that, it works for some people with no side effects. If you do decide to take it, make sure you get weekly checks for bp and pulse by a nurse to monitor what it is doing to you.

Had you had any kind of history of blood pressure problems before taking it? I have read that to be a side effect. I am an RN myself, so I will be watching carefully. I have not started it yet, but will within the next few weeks.
