Default met

Does Met have anything to do with having a period? I've been on Yasmin for 2 months now and Met for 2 and I had quit taking the Met at the first of the month cause it was making me really sick and we were moving and everything and i just couldn't handle it, well its time for my period and i haven't started yet. todays the 3rd day late. i was just wondering if maybe met might have something to do with it, since i quit taking it for a couple weeks there at the first of the month

I was on Met by itself (not on bcp's at that time), and for the first time in my life, I had regular, ovulatory periods. I'm not IR or diabetic (in fact my blood sugar levels are always low), but for some reason, it really worked for me. I also was sick in the beginning of taking it, but that eased up a bit after about 2 months. I also have been on Yasmin, which was a great bcp for me. It was the only one on which I actually lost weight, as opposed to gaining on all the others I had tried. However, about three months into taking it, my period would start later and later after I had taken my last active pill. They were also shorter (which is one of the benefits for some of being on the pill). So, it could be the Yasmin or the fact that you've had alot going on as to why your period is late. Also, are you sexually active? There have been a few stories on this board of women becoming pg on Yasmin (while taking it correctly), so if pg is a possibility, you may want to see your dr or take a test.

If you're concerned, making an apt with your dr would probably be the best thing.

Met does regulate AF for some women, so it might be skipping the Met put your cycle a bit off. It also is used to regulate ovulation, some women get PG pretty fast as soon as they start Met.

That is so interesting! I have been on Met since I was diagnosed in July... and due to the anemia I had, my doctor had me on megestrol to stop my menses. When it resumed in August, it lasted three weeks, stopped... started again a week later but it was on the exact date as previous month (meaning on schedule) and this time lasted only one week... i was thrilled to death that my period was normal finally... so maybe there is some truth to that... however, now my doctor has me on avandamet... which still has met in it... i wonder if that will mess things up? My ob/gyn told me that met will help me conceive... I wasn't sure if that was true... but maybe if it regulates you then maybe it really does?

well i got my calendar out and looked and it was the 28th last month and i started this morning so i guess i was just freaking out over nothing but i do go today to do blood work they are checking my insulin levels again, she told me the last time i saw her i had to lose 60 pounds before she'd give me anything to try and get pregnant but i've lost almost 30 so i'm HOPING she'll go ahead and get something going. i've started taking my met again regularly, i asked her if i could just take 500mg instead of the 1000mg a day cause i was really having bad diarrhea but hell taking the 500mg/day does the same thing so i told my mom might as well take the 1000mg/day if i was going to be sick and have diarrhea anyways. its been over 2 months in taking it and i haven't stopped having bad diarrhea yet.

I would ask your Dr if he wants you to wait a few days on the bloodwork...most lab tests for hormones are done on cycle day 3, so I would ask him if he still wants them today or Day 3.

Good luck!
