Default Met and Actos?

Is anybody taking met and Actos? I met with my RE today, and the met isn't helping my ovaries at all, so he wants me to start taking Actos too.

Any warnings before I take my first pill? What are the S/E like?

thanks ladies

I am only on Met at the moment, but I am seeing a new Endo this week and want to discuss other meds as Met is not working for me (weightloss has stopped since starting Met and major constipation even at 200mg).

How are you going with this combination so far? My only concern with Actos (or Avandia) is that they both can cause weight gain, I think from fluid retention. Did your Dr mention this and is it possible to take fluid retention meds to counteract the retention?

Well, I took my first Actos pill on Friday night, so it's only been a few days. But so far, I'm doing great. Maybe I'm just adjusting to the met better, but my appitite has gone down, and I haven't had any trouble keeping my blood sugar high enough (but I was taking prescription strength sudafed, which screws with your blood sugar, as I found out).

I've actually lost a good 3-4 pounds in the few days since I started Actos, but I think it was water weight. I was pretty bloated last week, and it's gone away now. However, my RE told me that it can cause me to gain weight, so I have to up my exercise routine and make sure I don't eat like a piggie while I'm on it.

Good luck
