peppermint tea

i saw a new ob/gyn yesterday and he rx actos 15mg and met 500mg(to start). i took gluc xr 1500mg for 5 mo. and it didn't do much for me. i lost some weight, but no af/O. he ordered a bunch of hormone tests to see what exactly gluc xr did for me besides the weight-loss. he switched me to regular met because he said that it works better than the xr. i'm hoping actos + met will regulate af/O. if not, we'll try them with femara.

if you're taking this combo, how's it working for you?

5/17 increased met to 1000 mg
6/6 increased met to 1500 mg
6/12 increased actos to 30 mg
7/11 reduced actos to 15 mg due to swelling
reduced met to 1000 mg due to severe diarrhea

rx meds: met & actos

9/5/03 i ovulated for the 2nd time in my life. wow!!!
new cycle 9/21
nettle infusion, almond, brewer's yeast, flax seed, standardized black cohosh

I have only been on it for close to two months and it takes a month to get into your system. So I will wait a bit and see. I am on Clomid so I am not sure which drug makes me ovulate most.

thanks for responding girls. good luck to you monika and congrats to you dara. i've worked up to 1500 mg of met and i'm almost done with one month of actos 15 mg. i'll go on to 30 mg of actos after that.

I've been on this combination for 4 month and got pg, but I m/c on May 15th. I've never O before nor got pg, so this is working.

I hope that one day I will have a healthy baby.

I'm always looking for others also doing Met and Actos!

I am currently taking Met XR 1000 and Actos 45 mg.

My Endo had me on Actos first...and raised the dose to 45 over time.. I have been taking that for...over a year and a half.. Last summer he added the Met b/c Af's slowed down (about every 4 months)--I took regular met two years ago by itself, and it made me very hypoglycemic...?? My Dr. doesn't understand why, but...I kept passing out! (not good).... Haven't had problems with this combo---and have about a 45day cycle!!!! (1st time ever so regular)...I gained some weight, but I think that is from the Met and other meds (Paxil)..and slowing down exercise.

This combo is what has worked best for me.

i'm glad the combo is working for you. one of the side effects of actos is weight gain, although, not everyone who takes actos will gain weight.

First let me apologize for responding so late.

It isn't working. To be honest with you when they added the Actos to the Metformin I lost 10 lbs but it agravated other symptoms. The biggest one was the facial hair. Now it's not doing a thing for me.
