So here we go!!! My Endo has put me on 1000mg of Met per day. I also take Lo-overal BCP. This is like my 3rd month using both together and I notice that I am having cramping like I used to way back when I was young and ovulated. I have been on this pill for 6 yrs now and have had no problems. He didn't tell me to much to do or worry about while taking this. I guess I'm just concerned how would I truely know if something else is causing the cramping or am I ovulating?
Thanks!

It's unlikely you are ovulating while being on BCP, unless you forget a pill or two. I would be careful about remembering them if I started having those symptoms and didn't want to get pg though.
if you have just started met, then i would suggest having a chat with your gp, as 1000mg of met to start with is a bit much, usually 500mg a day for first week, then up to 1000mg the next week........many people on met, start with all the side effects of cramps, running to loo etc etc
i take it from your post, that you have just been prescibed met, if you have been on it a while then you would most probably know the side effects of met!!

NO, YOU ARE NOT CRAZY. Your doctor or pharmacist should have had a discussion with you about the possibility of increased fertility on glucophage and how it's proven effect on hormones can interfere with BCP's. In fact, the reason met was discovered to be an effective treatment for pcos was from the suprising results diabetic women were having with fertility.
Ovulating on this combination may not happen to everyone, but it definitely did to me, and it seemed like the two meds were working against each other. This was because Yasmin was not strong enough to control my cycle, and probably never was. My symptoms actually got worse after starting glucophage, but they have improved since switching to Cyclessa. I would personally trust your instincts and either try another pill or add an additional method of birth control, especially if the timing of the cramping indicates that you could be ovulating. Keep in mind that just because a pill works now, doesn't mean that your body will not become accustomed to it and find ways to compensate. I took Demulen for 10 years with no complaints, and boom--it stopped working overnight.
I was told by my former gyn that I was a crackpot because it was not possible to ovulate on the Yasmin if I was taking it correctly, which I was. In fact, he refused to give me a different bcp!! For me, ovulation=specific and horrendous pain, and there is no way I will ever confuse that with IBS, stress, or anything else.
