Question Met with Clomid

Question....from what I've read/researched it sounds like combining Met with Clomid has very good results as far as increasing fertility and decreasing the chance of miscarriage. So why don't they automatically prescribe both rather than one or the other? (when trying to concieve) I have an appt tomorrow and I'd like to ask to be on Met along with the Clomid that I'm currently taking. Is this a reasonable request?

I just figure why not increase my odds? Right?

I would definitly discuss the possibilty of using Met with your Dr...especially since you have had a misscarriage. My RE says that I will probably stay on the Met for the rest of my life...even during pregnancy. Most Dr's who are current with the latest research do not view met as a "fertility"drug, but rather a drug that will help treat insulin resistance in PCOS patients...some of whom will get pregnant!

For me, met has been a lifesaver! I have lost weight, have regular periods, and my face has cleared up. I still have bad diarreah, but it is worth to me if I continue to have the benefits!

Good luck!

this is an interesting thread as I am hoping that my obgyn will do the same for me when I go back on Monday as my af has disappeared!

Hopefully this thread will give me enough info to discuss it with him and if not then I will have to go to Plan B whatever that is

Helen

Also...if you don't get the response you were looking from your Gyn, please, PLEASE talk to an RE, as they would be much more comfortable treating Insulin Resistance.

Best of luck to you both!

Do you need a referral to see and RE?

Helen, We're in the same boat. AF has left the building! She was half way normal on my first two rounds of Clomid but now I'm on CD 40 and still no sign of her. I've done two HPT, both negative. I'm so anxious to start my next round of Clomid but AF is being so stubborn! I think the problem is that I didn't O last month. At least according to my temps I didn't. I'm assuming they will up my dose of Clomid to 100mg. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Good luck on getting the Met prescribed!

Thanks for your help Summer Girl.
