Default Met and cycle changes

Hi,

I'm new to posting on this site but have gotten so much good info for the past few months since finally being diagnosed with PCOS. I have been taking Metformin for 2 months now and am very pleased with the 17 pound weight loss I've successfully managed but am wondering about the cycle changes. I was averaging cycles between 35-40 days. The first month on Met my cycle was 27 days! I wasn't a total B**** the day before my period started either. I was SOOO excited! I had a really painful ovulation that cycle. This month- my 2nd on Met and I didn't feel ovulation if I had it (which I'm not TTC so that's not my concern really) and I'm currently on day 30. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this kind of thing and if they bounced around for a while or if once it got better it stayed that way?

I'm currently on 1000mg per day (500 in the am and 500 in the pm)

I'm gun shy I suppose- I feel like I had to do all the work to get diagnosed since my midwife told me I was "just going through perimenopause" (at age 34 when my own mother still has her periods in her 50s) and I needed to accept the changes to come... WHATEVER-- Sorry- ADD moment...

I can't really answer your question about the regularity of cycles after being on the Met. but I can tell you that I've been on the Met. for about 2mo. (like you, I got my first 'natural' meaning no provera, after only a few weeks. I was soooo excited to see some symbolance of 'normal', lol) This month I decided to try clomid which has falied for me in the past but I'm hoping that along with the met it might make a difference. So I totally understand where you are coming from. Have you started doing the charting on fertility friend? That really helped me see and understand my cycle. I'll let you if I O with the clomid and the Met. combo.
