Question Met Dosage

I have been taking met for about a month, my dr. has me on 500mg a day and I am wondering if this is the right dosage. Is there anyone else on this dosage? He feels that since I am only 5 feet tall and 110 pounds that this is the right dosage. I did ovulate for the first time this month and my doctor said it was a good ovulation since my progesterone level was 14. Any advice?

my doctor is starting me out slow but will be to 1500mg. thats weird im only 4'11 and 92 pounds. i guess because my periods are very very irregular and im pretty sure i dont ovulate. i havent gotten excess hair or anything yet so hopefully this will help. i asked her if i was going to gain alot of weight. she said not as long as "we" treat it. i suppose it depends on the doctor. sorry for the babbling.

I think you just have to wait and see how it does for you. I got pregnant within two months of being on 1000 mg of Met. After I started taking it, I had my period within two weeks, then an ovulatory 20-day cycle, then the cycle I got pregnant on. My doctor said we'd try that dosage for several months and see if it worked. I guess it did!

How long have you been on met? Are you TTC? My periods are not irregular just 36 days apart and only last 2-3 days. Maybe I should get a second opinion about the dosage.

Yes, I am ttc. I have just started taking it about a week ago. Maybe your on a lower dose because your periods are regular. I only get 1 or 2 a year on my own (dont ovulate either). I thought it was odd that my doctor prescribed such a high dose, but she prefers metformin. She likes to use clomid as a last resort, that could be the reason why she has me on such a high dose. who knows, lol. She told me to try it for 3 months and chart my temps,if no success then she will give me clomid.

My doctor also said a three month trial, so lets pray we don't actually have to try the clomid) But my doctor did say he wanted me to stay on met indefinately to keep PCOS under control. I am like you, I do not have many PCOS symptoms, and I hope that continues.

My dosage is 1500 mg. But if you ovulated, it must be working, right?
